Education & Experience
- U.S. Citizen required
- Valid driver's license required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from a National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accredited program
- Minimum of five (5) years of professional architectural design experience, including new construction and renovation projects
- Minimum of one (1) year supporting facilities projects for a Federal agency
- Registered Architect (RA) license preferred
- Experience preparing code-compliant architectural designs and construction documents
- Working knowledge of DoD and NAVFAC design criteria, the International Building Code (IBC), Life Safety Code, and applicable industry standards
- Proficiency with Autodesk design software, Microsoft Office Suite, and architectural design and analysis software
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams
Position Overview
Futron is seeking an experienced Architect to support NAVFAC EURAFCENT planning, design, and construction projects throughout Italy and Bahrain. The Architect will provide professional architectural design, technical consultation, and project support for military construction (MILCON), renovation, maintenance, demolition, and facilities development projects serving the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and other Department of Defense customers. This position works closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality, code-compliant facility designs that meet mission requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional architectural support for the planning, design, construction, renovation, maintenance, and modernization of military facilities.
- Develop architectural concepts, programming documents, space planning solutions, and design packages for a variety of facility types.
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and technical submissions for quality, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
- Provide technical consultation on facility planning, sustainable design, space utilization, and architectural best practices.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, planners, and government stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
- Ensure compliance with DoD, NAVFAC, and federal design criteria, building codes, accessibility requirements, and life safety standards.
- Support military construction (MILCON), demolition, maintenance, and facilities development projects from planning through construction.
- Review third-party architectural designs and provide recommendations for design improvements and code compliance.
- Coordinate architectural designs with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and other engineering disciplines.
- Prepare written technical reports, design analyses, presentations, and project documentation.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, site visits, and coordination activities with government and contractor personnel.
- Support project budgeting, planning, scheduling, and quality assurance efforts throughout the project lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Architect (RA) license.
- Experience supporting NAVFAC, U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, or other Department of Defense facilities programs.
- Experience designing military, healthcare, industrial, administrative, or waterfront facilities.
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles and federal facility planning requirements.
- Experience supporting overseas or expeditionary construction projects.
