Minimum Qualifications (WS-02): Ability to do the work of a(n) HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision. Ability to supervise within a Hospital Housekeeping Department. I can explain work requirements, methods, procedures; instruct subordinates in new procedures and provides assistance when problems arise; identify training needs to ensure employees are educated on regulations and techniques; conduct corrective interviews with employees and refers disciplinary problems to supervisor; ensure subordinates comply with established safety procedures ; ensuring that adequate cleaning and housekeeping duties are completed; and select workers and assigns tasks to be performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds is required.
- The position is designated Mission Essential (The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather, or other emergency situations).

- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires continual standing and walking for prolonged periods of time, frequently stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling, and bending. Maybe required to work on ladders and perform heavy work such as scouring large size cooking utensils and moving heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted, and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: The work is performed in kitchen areas where steam and heat from cooking and dishwashing equipment often cause uncomfortably hot temperatures and humidity. The work area is well-lighted, but usually hot and noisy from food service activities. Worker is exposed to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units. There is danger of slipping on wet floors that have been recently mopped or where food has been spilled. The worker is regularly exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units.
