Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Systems / Network Engineer to join our team. This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to meetings in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including Washington, D.C. and Alexandria, Virginia, as needed.
As a Senior Systems / Network Engineer, you will support the full lifecycle of enterprise systems and network environments, including system design and development, testing, deployment, training, and ongoing operations and maintenance. This role requires a strong technical leader who can work across infrastructure, cloud, networking, and cybersecurity domains while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver mission-critical solutions.
Responsibilities
• Install and configure Windows and Linux operating systems in enterprise environments.
• Provision and manage cloud infrastructure, with experience in AWS required; Windows AWS CLI scripting experience is highly desirable.
• Lead troubleshooting, problem identification, and resolution efforts.
• Install and configure Microsoft enterprise applications, including Microsoft SQL Server and related solutions.
• Gather and define system requirements and develop implementation plans and service strategies.
• Perform system hardening in accordance with FISMA and DISA standards, including remediation and accreditation support activities.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight to engineering teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to assess and define system and infrastructure requirements.
• Analyze network performance and infrastructure to identify issues and opportunities for improvement.
• Design and implement network architectures and enterprise systems infrastructure.
• Oversee the deployment, configuration, and administration of systems and networks.
• Monitor systems and networks for performance, security, and operational issues.
• Troubleshoot complex technical problems and implement effective solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation, operational procedures, and reporting metrics.
• Train team members on new technologies, systems, and best practices.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, protocols, and industry best practices.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and platform teams to achieve mission objectives.
Requirements
• Active DoD Secret security clearance required; ability to maintain the clearance throughout employment.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant systems engineering, network engineering, or infrastructure experience.
• Experience administering Linux, UNIX, and Windows operating systems.
• Experience with database platforms such as MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong scripting skills and proficiency in languages such as Python, Perl, Ruby, PowerShell, or similar.
• Experience with SonarQube configuration and administration.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, AWS EKS, and AWS CDK.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP and the OSI model.
• Experience with Git Bash, virtual environments, and PowerShell scripting.
• Experience provisioning and managing infrastructure within cloud environments, including networking and security controls.
• Excellent communication, leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
