Northrop Grumman's Space Sector is seeking a Internal Technical Trainer - Level 3 to join our team in Dulles, VA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
As a Trainer / Inspector, your primary responsibility will be to train Assemblers, Technicians, Quality Inspectors, and pertinent Engineers ("Operators") in the J-STD-001, NASA-STD-8731.1, NASA-STD-8739.4, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and IPC 7711/7721 policies and procedures. As time allows, you will also perform improvement initiatives.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

In this job, you will:
- Maintain training matrix for Operations and J-STD-001 certification requirements
- Provide advanced soldering, application techniques and spot training for Operators as work defects occur. Enhance understanding and appropriate use of criteria outlined in the IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC 7711/7721 and J-STD-001 Standards
- Responsibilities include:
Creation and dissemination of additional training documentation for specialized training (i.e., specific processes, lifted pads, rework/repair, etc.)
Ensure Operators maintain scheduled training to meet certification requirements
Order and maintain supplies needed to conduct training, i.e., IPC certificates, IPC soldering kits, components/boards, videos/visual aids, etc.
Review, observe, and qualify the workmanship (demonstrated by completed training boards and materials) to the J-STD-001 acceptance criteria - Implement improvement opportunities (e.g., Zero Defect Plans, Corrective Actions)
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 3 years of professional experience - OR - PhD with 1 year of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree.
- No clearance required to start
- Experience within electronics manufacturing/inspection of PCBs, electronic assemblies, cable/wire harness assemblies, and related technologies.
- Experienced in the application of polymerics.
- Experience in providing technical training courses in-person and on-line.
- Able to obtain Level B Certification for the following courses: IPC-J-STD001 w/ the space addendum, NASA-STD-8731.1 Polymerics, IPC 7711/7721 Rework and Repair,IPC-A-610 - Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies (Printed Wiring Boards), IPC-A-620 - Practices and requirements for the manufacture of cable, wire, and harness assemblies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experienced in flight harness and circuit card manufacturing and rework / repair.
- Level B certification for the following courses:
- IPC-J-STD001 w/ the space addendum
- NASA-STD-8731.1 Polymerics
- NASA-STD-8739.4 Crimp, Interconnecting Cables, Harnessing and Wiring
- IPC 7711/7721 Rework and Repair
- IPC-A-610 - Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies (Printed Wiring Boards)
- IPC-A-620 - Practices and requirements for the manufacture of cable, wire, and harness assemblies
