Job Description
McLaughlin Research Corporation (MRC) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer who will support the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport RI. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) is the United States Navy's full-spectrum research, development, test and evaluation, engineering and fleet support center for submarines, autonomous underwater systems, and offensive and defensive weapons systems associated with undersea warfare. The successful candidate must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, schedule driven environment.
• Troubleshoot submarine CASREPS and SUBs casualty messages
• Direct and coordinate EMI testing and troubleshooting teams on U.S. submarines.
• Develop EMI test procedures for submarine sonar and communication systems.
• Develop EMI corrective actions and coordinate submarine installations of EMI corrective action kits.
• Develop and present EMC training to shipyards and give presentations at national and international EMC reviews.
• Perform MIL-STD-461 EMC testing on submarine equipment.
• Coordinate EMI reduction efforts with Naval Fleet Commands and equipment manufacturers.
• Lead NEWCON dockside and at-sea test trials for the CWITT program.
• Design and build EMI-hardened test kits for submarine sonar and communications.
• Provided training to technicians and engineers in EMC test methods and trouble-shooting.
• Collaborate with Navy representatives, shipyard personnel, and defense contractors to ensure effective coordination of dockside and shipyard project activities
Job Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years experience, preferably in an engineering discipline. 3 or more years of additional relevant experience from military or private sector may be considered in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree.
• Excellent communications skills and the ability to work independently and/or with members of integrated project teams in the accomplishment of technical task objectives.
• Experience executing or reviewing technical studies, analysis, or design activities in their technical field
• Active US Department of Defense Secret clearance, with an ability to be eligible for a Top Secret Clearance (if required for specific tasking)
