Education: The mandatory education program described below must have been approved, recognized, or accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (external link) (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (external link) (ASHA) at the time the degree was obtained. (Please provide copy of transcripts)
Degree: A graduate or higher level graduate degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of audiology with approved clinical practice. Applicants for positions with both speech pathologist and audiologist duties must have successfully completed all the requirements for a graduate or higher level degree with 18 semester hours in one of the fields with approved clinical practice and, in addition, must have either completed a minor in the other field or must have had at least 1 year of professional experience in the other field.

Licensure: Must possess a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice Audiology as applicable in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. (Must provide copy of license)

May be required to work weekends, shifts, holidays, watch duties, extended work hours based on patient workload or unplanned emergencies.
Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees.
A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized.
This position is subject to an initial drug screening, and random testing thereafter. A negative drug test result must be received by HR within 30 calendar days after the EOD (i.e., start date). The selectee's inability to successfully pass; or refusal to conduct the test may result in: 1) the tentative or final job offer being withdrawn during the recruitment process; or 2) subsequently being removed from Federal service for failure to meet a condition of employment. - You will oversee the organization, direction, and management of occupational audiology and hearing loss prevention services.
- You will monitor emerging research and clinical trends to continuously integrate advanced care techniques.
- You will optimize resource allocation and productivity by managing staff schedules, establishing workflow priorities, and distributing assignments.
- You will oversee audiometric testing, education, and follow-up care for individuals exposed to hazardous noise levels.
- You will design and coordinate hearing loss prevention training plans and programs.

- Must have or obtain within 2 years of hire, a Certification as a Course Director from the Council of Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (AOHC) per DoDI 6055.12 and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.95
- Per BUMEDINST 1500.15F, must obtain and maintain CPR certification.
- Per CDC, BUMEDINST 6220.9B, and BUMEDINST 6230.15, healthcare providers involved in direct patient care must obtain a Hepatitis B immunization unless medically contraindicated or exempted by documented religious preference.
- ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology OR American Board of Audiology certification is mandatory.

- Experience overseeing the staffing, budget, equipment and supply inventory for all occupational audiology and HCP services.
- Experience delegating assignments and complex projects based on staff capabilities and providing technical guidance.
- Experience overseeing audiometric testing, education and follow-up to ensure standardized care.
