Duties

As a ELECTRONIC INTEGRATED SYSTEMS MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), WS-2610-13, you will supervise employees who install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes consisting of multiple completely integrated electronic avionics systems where the complex accomplishes a number of major functions.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
  • Serve as section supervisor, exercising supervisory responsibility over assigned integrated systems repair and maintenance work operations.
  • Supervise employees involved in the maintenance, repair, and modification of integrated multi-complex avionics systems.
  • Plan use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities and materials.
  • Establish deadlines and priorities and work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by higher level supervisors.
  • Determine the sequence, priority, and time for the performance of operations within the limits of broad work schedules and time limits.
  • Determine the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.
  • Participate with superiors in the initial planning of current and future work schedules, budget requests, staffing needs, estimates, and recommendations as to scheduling projected work.
  • Investigate work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes; implements corrective actions, within authority, to resolve work problems.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement.   • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
Qualifications

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:
  • The area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
Military Grades: MSgt or SMSgt ONLY.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : WS-13 LEVEL - MUST possess the specialized experience which includes, In addition to the craftsman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.

SPECIALIZED SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: MUST possess supervisory experience which includes experience in managing the function of work to be performed; experience that includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
