As our next Software Engineer/ Developer for NAVAIR, you'll collaborate with talented professionals to create innovative, mission-critical solutions that empower naval aviation and defense operations. Responsibilities
Position serves as the FMS Engineer for the Theater Mission Planning Center (TMPC) program. The TMPC program is a software intensive solution that supports critical planning and execution for the Tomahawk cruise missile weapon system. The program has high visibility, involves significant collaboration with other DoD Services, and is relied upon to be first-to-the-fight. You will be part of a dynamic team that is driving innovative technology and exploring modern Agile acquisition processes to support FMS for the TWS. You will manage technical sustainment and modification of the TMPC software in support of FMS. You will conduct traditional systems engineering, digital engineering, and Agile software processes.

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law. You will manage technical sustainment and modification of the TMPC software in support of FMS. You will conduct traditional systems engineering, digital engineering, and Agile software processes.
- Apply systems engineering processes to the analysis, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of TMPC mission planning software and technical documentation for the Tomahawk missile system for FMS programs.
- Coordinate closely with the Foreign Disclosure Office (FDO) to ensure that software and technical documentation is appropriately sanitized and properly documented for FDO release approval to partner FMS countries.
- Engage with customers to collect input and feedback to improve and enhance TMPC .
- Review, analyze, and document TMPC emerging requirements.
- Review, analyze, and document TMPC software defects.
- Analyze the impact of changes to TMPC system requirements and interfaces.
- Lead working groups to address engineering and technical challenges that require analysis of alternatives.
- Participate in the analysis and documentation of cyber and system security aspects of the TMPC software.
- Participate on working groups and collaborate with software developers to help migrate TMPC software into DevSecOps software pipelines.
- Providing technical input for project plans, schedules, roadmaps, and cost estimates.
- Author reports and brief NAVAIR Leadership on status, metrics, and technical analysis.
- Participate in change management and configuration management processes and review boards.
- Review vendor produced MBSE models, and contribute to MBSE descriptions of the system.
- Coordinate with test and evaluation activities for assessment of TMPC
- Conduct technical Risk Management and tracking.
- Assist with vendor tasking, guidance, and oversight in the development of technical SOWs, participation with TIMs, PMRs, and review of CDRLs.
- Participate in the development of strategies to apply Agile development practices to TMPC FMS.
- Participate in Agile software development processes including backlog grooming, backlog prioritization, sprint reviews, program increment reviews, and capability evaluation.
- Participate in the development of process and product improvement initiatives for TMPC software.
- Advise and assist NAVAIR executives, managers, and supervisors in the planning and implementation of systems engineering and digital engineering policy and guidance.
Qualifications
- DoD Secret required with ability to obtain Top Secret to start. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Bachelor's degree and 8-10 years of related work experience.
- Travel expected to be 6-8 times per year.
