Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO is searching for an IT Specialist for SYD 81 (NH-2210-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).
Description:
The Command ISSM serves as the principal advisor to System Delta 81 leadership on all matters related to cybersecurity and Information Assurance (IA). This role is responsible for the overarching security posture of all information systems within the Delta's purview. A critical function of this position is the direct management, oversight, and synchronization of all contractor Information Systems Security Managers (ISSMs) and Information System Security Engineers (ISSEs) supporting the mission. Direct and evaluate the performance of all contractor ISSMs and ISSEs across System Delta 81. Ensure uniform application of cybersecurity standards and hold contracting teams accountable for deliverables and system security performance. Manage the Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle for all Delta systems. Oversee the development, review, and maintenance of Assessment and Authorization (A&A) packages to secure Authority to Operate (ATO) decisions from the Authorizing Official (AO). Act as the primary cybersecurity authority for System Delta 81 leadership. Provide continuous risk assessments, threat briefings, and mitigation strategies regarding the integration of new technologies and space systems architectures. Develop, implement, and enforce local cybersecurity policies, procedures, and Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) plans in accordance with DoD, USSF, and specific programmatic directives (e.g., DAAPM, JSIG). Serve as the focal point for all cybersecurity incidents. Coordinate with external cyber defense entities, direct initial triage, and manage the remediation efforts executed by the subordinate ISSE and ISSM teams.
Ideal Candidate:
Ideal candidate would possess years of experience in Space systems and IT management. Possessing a background in leading IT infrastructure efforts, managing technical enterprise systems, and overseeing cloud and network operations is highly desired. Knowledge of DoW IT management processes, privacy act implementation, cybersecurity frameworks (such as RMF), and relevant professional certifications (e.g., ITIL, CISSP, or PMP) is also highly desired. Must be able to lead a team of Government civilian, military, and support contractors. Must be an effective communicator, able to receive, interpret, and communicate complex technical information from senior leadership to the rest of the organization.

- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret / SCI security clearance.
- Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed "Unscheduled Telework".
- This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
- Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
- PCS / relocation funding is authorized.
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 20 days per year.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program.
- Will attain appropriate DoD approved cybersecurity baseline certification applicable for cybersecurity functions required for the position held, within six months of filling position.
- Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and by 31 October annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, "Confidential Financial Disclosure Report.
- This position is part of the Acquisition Professional Development Program.
