Installation engineer

* Rquired

Strong expirience in administering Linux servers (Ubuntu, or Debian)
- Solid command of the Linux internals you touch day to day: systemd, package management, filesystems and LVM, users and permissions
- Troubleshooting skills at the OS level: reading logs (journald, syslog), and using performance and diagnostic tools such as top/htop, iostat, df, lsof and journalctl
- Hardening and security: SSH, sudo policies
- Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, subnetting, routing, NAT, DNS and DHCP
- Version control with Git
- Clear written documentation and runbooks
- Ability to take part in an on-call rotation

* Nice to Have

- **Kubernetes:** deploying and running clusters, plus experience with Helm, ingress controllers and **troubleshooting pods** and networking
- **Terraform:** managing state, provisioning on-prem infrastructure as code
- **Ansible:** managing inventory and writing/reading playbooks and roles
- **GitOps:** understanding of GitOps principles and FluxCD
- Containers: Docker or Podman
- Experience with load balancers, reverse proxies (Nginx, HAProxy) and VPNs
- Monitoring and alerting with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana
- Backup and recovery planning, including tested restores
- Hands-on network troubleshooting with tcpdump, Wireshark, traceroute, dig
- Network/Security: firewalld/iptables/nftables, and patch management
- Scripting in Bash; Python is a plus
- Virtualization expirience
- Certifications: RHCSA/RHCE, LFCS, CKA, CCNA or HashiCorp Terraform Associate

- Works independently and prioritizes well during incidents
- Explains technical issues clearly to people who aren't technical
- Automates repeated work instead of doing it by hand
