Job Description:
As a 508 Tester, you will be responsible for evaluating web-based applications on various mobile devices to ensure they meet Section 508 accessibility standards. Your daily tasks will involve conducting thorough compliance testing, identifying accessibility barriers, and documenting your findings in a clear and actionable manner.
- You will collaborate closely with development teams to communicate issues and recommend solutions that enhance usability for individuals with disabilities. Your attention to detail and ability to interpret accessibility guidelines will be essential as you verify that mobile applications and interfaces are fully accessible.
- Familiarity with accessibility testing tools such as screen readers (e.g. JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver), color contrast analyzers, and mobile device emulators.
- Experience with manual and automated testing processes, as well as knowledge of common accessibility issues iOS and Android platforms, will help you excel.
- Previous exposure to working with accessibility standards, such as WCAG and ARIA, will further support your success.
- A background in reporting and tracking defects, along with the ability to prioritize issues based on user impact, will also contribute to your effectiveness as a 508 Tester.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct 508 compliance testing of web applications on various mobile devices to ensure accessibility standards are met.
- Identify, document, and report accessibility issues found during testing.
- Collaborate with development and design teams to provide feedback and recommendations for remediation.
- Stay updated on the latest accessibility guidelines and best practices for mobile platforms.
- Participate in accessibility reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes.
- Ability to produce clear, structured defect documentation aligned with program reporting standards.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
