Job Description

Position Title: Janitor

Division: Advancia Government Services

Location: Hazelwood, MO

Grade/Salary Range: $16-18/hr + $5.09 H&W

Schedule: Part Time- 15 hours per week

Position Summary

The Janitor will provide support to the US Army Corps of Engineers - St. Louis District facilities by providing various cleaning services to include but not be limited to floor care, dusting, restroom services, window/glass cleaning, and garbage/recyclable removal. Must be able to utilize cleaning products, chemicals, vacuums, mops, wringers, dust tools, and floor machines. Position contingent upon award of contract.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • The employee must follow all rules and regulations related to entering and leaving the building

  • Must be physically able to do their assigned work

  • Must follow all security, OPSEC, and safety rules and regulations

  • The employee will need to maintain regular communication with Project Manager via phone, text, or email

  • The employee will be required to fill out and submit a service ticket for each day's work to the Project Manager as well as update the restroom cleaning chart as needed

  • Follow established procedure methods for handling and mixing chemicals

  • The employee must adhere to the contractual cleaning schedule and provide adequate documentation for each task on the service tickets

  • Will be responsible for tracking supply inventory and notifying Project Manager when items need to be re-stocked prior to running out

  • Will keep janitor closet clean, organized, and odor free

  • Perform the following tasks at industry best practices:

    • Remove trash and recyclables

    • Sweep/dust/and damp mop floors

    • Vacuum all carpet floors

    • Interior glass and window cleaning, including mirrors, Plexi-glass, frames

    • Semi-annual exterior window/frame cleaning

    • Annual floor stripping, sealing, polishing, and waxing

    • Monthly spot wax and spray buff as needed

    • Annual carpet cleaning/steaming

    • Sweep/clean/wash entry staircases and entryway

    • Maintain and clean entryway rugs and floor underneath

    • Dusting; high and low

    • Clean drinking fountains

    • Service and clean restrooms, wall tile, walls, dividers, fixtures and hard water deposit

    • Tile and grout cleaning

    • Restock toilet paper, hand soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, trash bags, etc.

    • Cleaning the following: Light fixtures; ventilation grills, louvers and vents; break area

    • Perform general litter patrol around exterior office buildings, remove man-made debris and dispose of trash in dumpsters


Education & Experience Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 1 year experience in custodial work that applies particular knowledge and skills to perform the position

  • Must be able to pass a background check

  • Organized and detail orientated

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Must be self-motivated, proactive, and able to work alone with minimal guidance

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions

  • Demonstrates good customer relationship skills

  • Must be dependable and punctual


Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands

  • The work environment characteristics described in the job description are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this job

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • For extended periods of time may be required to stand or walk; push or pull heavy equipment. Considerable reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing as required

  • Work will be performed primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks

  • Able to work outside and exposed to weather for a minimum period
