This position requires onsite work in Tucson, AZ and an active Secret security Clearance. Candidates who do not hold this clearance are not eligible for hire.

Solidus is seeking an energetic and collaborative Electrical Engineer to join our cutting-edge hardware design team. This role is designed for an engineer with a foundational background in digital electronics who is ready to accelerate their career. You will collaborate with senior engineers to design, analyze, and test digital electronic circuits that implement missile guidance, video processing, and digital signal processing (DSP). Our technology base includes high-speed digital electronics, FPGAs, and advanced multiprocessor designs.

Day in the Life:
  • Assist in the design and schematic capture of digital electronic modules and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs)
  • Perform basic signal integrity, power integrity, and timing analysis under the mentorship of senior staff
  • Conduct hands-on laboratory testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of prototype hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters
  • Integrate standard industry interfaces into designs, including PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART
  • Generate and maintain design documentation, test plans, and bill of materials (BOM)
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team environment, interfacing with software, systems, and mechanical engineers


Required Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related STEM discipline
  • 2 years of experience in digital hardware design (relevant internship or co-op experience may be considered)
  • Active Secret clearance
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Mentor Graphics, or Cadence)
  • Foundational understanding of microprocessors, FPGAs, and memory architectures
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting hardware in a lab environment
  • Familiarity with at least two standard board-level interfaces (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Cultural fit amongst a collaborative team environment


Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
  • Experience with VHDL or Verilog hardware description languages
  • Exposure to high-speed digital design principles or signal integrity simulation tools (e.g., HyperLynx)
  • Understanding of military or aerospace environmental standards (e.g., MIL-STD-810)
