Functional (Legacy) SME - Defense ERP & Legacy Supply Systems

Blue Rose Consulting Group, Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Functional (Legacy) Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a federal Department of Defense client. This role requires extensive experience with DoD Working Capital Fund operations, legacy defense supply systems, ERP modernization, and Agile software delivery. The selected candidate will play a critical role in backlog refinement, functional design, testing, and deployment support throughout the software development lifecycle.

What You'll Do

As the Functional (Legacy) SME, you will provide functional expertise supporting legacy defense supply systems and ERP modernization initiatives while working closely with Agile delivery teams.

Responsibilities include:

• Determine the Definition of Ready (DoR) for work items entering Sprint planning
• Support backlog grooming and prioritization activities
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, testers, and stakeholders
• Deliver working software in every Agile iteration through configuration and development support
• Analyze business and functional requirements for legacy defense systems
• Develop and maintain functional design documentation
• Translate functional requirements into comprehensive testing artifacts
• Create test conditions, test scenarios, and detailed test scripts
• Execute functional and system testing activities
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Validate system functionality throughout implementation and release cycles
• Support production deployments and resolve post-deployment issues
• Follow established program processes, standards, and quality procedures
• Support continuous process improvement initiatives

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience supporting Department of Defense Working Capital Fund (WCF) organizations
• Extensive ERP implementation or sustainment experience
• Experience working with Department of Defense Working Capital Fund trading partners
• Strong experience developing functional designs
• Extensive functional testing experience
• Experience creating test plans, test conditions, and test scripts
• Experience executing testing through production deployment
• Experience supporting Agile software development projects
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills

Required Legacy System Experience

Candidates must have demonstrated experience supporting one or more of the following:

• D035J / FIABS
• SMAS
• GAFS-BQ / GAFS-BL

Preferred Qualifications

• 10+ years of ERP experience
• 10+ years of Functional Design experience
• 10+ years of Functional Test Planning experience
• 10+ years of Test Execution experience
• Experience supporting enterprise ERP modernization initiatives
• Experience working within Department of Defense logistics and supply chain environments
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery teams
