Lead portfolio-level systems engineering efforts across software, firmware, cybersecurity, and electrical engineering domains, ensuring technical consistency, interoperability, and reuse across multiple aerospace and defense programs. Serve as the critical integration point between domain engineering teams and program-level Lead Systems Engineers (LSEs), driving common architectures, interface management, and model-based engineering practices that reduce program risk, accelerate development, and improve mission outcomes.

Lead portfolio-level systems engineering efforts across software, firmware, cybersecurity, and electrical engineering domains, ensuring technical consistency, interoperability, and reuse across multiple aerospace and defense programs. Serve as the critical integration point between domain engineering teams and program-level Lead Systems Engineers (LSEs), driving common architectures, interface management, and model-based engineering practices that reduce program risk, accelerate development, and improve mission outcomes.
A Day in the Life - What you'll do
- Serve as the primary technical conduit between software, firmware, cybersecurity, electrical engineering teams, and program-level Lead Systems Engineers to ensure alignment of technical objectives and system architectures.
- Drive portfolio-wide engineering commonality initiatives that promote reuse of architectures, requirements, interfaces, components, and engineering processes across multiple programs.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost, schedule risk, and technical complexity through standardization and shared engineering solutions.
- Define, analyze, and manage interfaces between software, firmware, cybersecurity, electrical, and system-level components throughout the product lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain functional architectures, operational concepts, use cases, and system behaviors supporting electronic and software-intensive systems.
- Translate complex electrical, software, firmware, and cybersecurity requirements into Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts that support architecture development, traceability, and verification.
- Collaborate with domain subject matter experts to ensure engineering models accurately represent system functionality, interfaces, constraints, and operational performance.
- Support system architecture development, requirements allocation, verification planning, and technical baseline management activities.
- Facilitate technical discussions across engineering disciplines to resolve interface issues, architectural conflicts, and integration challenges.
- Participate in design reviews, architecture reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer-facing engineering discussions.
- Support Digital Engineering initiatives by promoting model-centric development practices and maintaining consistency across engineering artifacts.
- Assess emerging technologies, engineering approaches, and portfolio capabilities to improve future program execution and technical performance.
- Mentor engineering teams on systems engineering best practices, interface management, architecture development, and MBSE methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Aerospace Engineering, or another STEM discipline from an accredited institution.
- 8+ years of Systems Engineering experience supporting software-intensive, electronic, aerospace, defense, or advanced technology programs.
- Demonstrated experience working across software, firmware, cybersecurity, and electrical engineering disciplines within complex technical environments.
- Experience serving as a technical integration point between multiple engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of system architecture development, interface management, requirements decomposition, functional analysis, and verification planning.
- Experience defining and managing interfaces, functions, operational concepts, and use cases for software and electronic subsystems.
- Experience translating technical requirements into Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) artifacts and engineering models.
- Hands-on experience with MBSE methodologies and system modeling practices.
- Strong understanding of systems lifecycle processes including requirements management, architecture development, integration, verification, validation, and configuration management.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, program leadership, customers, and executive stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead technical collaboration across multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
- Experience using Cameo Systems Modeler, SysML, or similar MBSE tools to develop and maintain system architectures.
- Experience supporting aerospace, space, missile defense, autonomous systems, communications systems, or other mission-critical defense programs.
- Experience integrating cybersecurity requirements into system architectures and engineering workflows.
- Familiarity with firmware development processes, embedded systems architectures, and hardware/software integration.
- Experience using Jama Connect or similar requirements management platforms.
- Experience implementing Digital Engineering strategies and model-centric development environments.
- Knowledge of network architectures, secure communications, and cyber-resilient system design principles.
- Experience developing reusable architecture frameworks and portfolio-wide engineering standards.
- Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
- INCOSE certification or advanced Systems Engineering training.
