The Senior Linux Administrator will support to the Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FLENUMMETOCCEN/FNMOC) on a full-time, on-site basis in Monterey, California. System administration support is needed for all aspects of the FNMOC systems that support high-volume processing of satellite data. The position requires the ability to integrate new types of satellite-related data flows (formats, sizes, quantities, storage issues) and to ensure downstream applications can handle and manipulate the data.
The performer shall provide maintenance and support to multicore HPC and virtualized and hardware-based infrastructure (typically running mail, DNS, IdM or LDAP, and data routing) systems, to include all associated subsystems. Support also extends to backup processes such as Tivoli Backup Management.
The performer shall participate in the investigation of relevant systems/subsystems performance including interconnecting networks, storage, patch management, the data flow on the networks, the performance of computers and the overall flow and handling of information across the hardware and software enterprise. Work will consist of maintenance and operations support of HPC systems at FNMOC and shall include operational testing, validation, and documentation. Work will extend to Cyber Security compliance and ensuring system backups occur correctly and on a regular basis.

Job Duties:
- System Integration and Support, including providing recommendations to support HPC, satellite, and related systems
- Investigation of systems including interconnected networks, data flow, and performance
- Management of LDAP/IdM and node-provisioning via Red Hat Satellite Server
- Architecture Guidance and technical assistance to HPC Linux customer base
- Administration support of NAS file storage in classified and unclassified environments
- Daily backup support to systems and maintenance of backups
- Ensure compliance with DISA STIG requirements
- Work with a team of engineers for problem resolution
Required Experience:
- 3+ years experience:
- Supporting Linux systems and subsystems, including storage and backup solutions, in an operational environment
- Provisioning Linux systems and performing operational testing
- Securing Linux systems using tools, including STIG and vulnerability scanners
- Knowledge of project management processes and documentation
- Ability to draft technical documentation targeted at various reader levels, including users, operators, and system analysts
- Strong communication skills
- Active Secret Clearance with T5 (formerly known as SSBI) investigation
Preferred Qualifications:
- Security+ CE Certification (or comparable certification)
- Training and experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux
