Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a Data Automation Engineer to support a U.S. Government customer providing incident response services to civilian agencies and critical infrastructure organizations. This role focuses on developing automation solutions that enhance technology integration efforts, streamline data workflows, and improve operational efficiency across cybersecurity and analytics environments.
The ideal candidate will have experience building data pipelines, automating workflows, integrating systems through APIs, and developing scalable automation solutions that support mission-critical operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain automated data pipelines and ETL processes
• Create automation workflows for data collection, analysis, and integration activities
• Support Automated Malware Analysis (AMA) platform development and enhancements
• Develop scripts and tools to automate repetitive technical tasks
• Implement API integrations and workflow automation solutions
• Create data transformation and normalization processes
• Support AI/ML data preparation and automation initiatives
• Develop monitoring and alerting capabilities for automated systems
• Document automation solutions and maintain code repositories
• Collaborate with technical teams to identify and implement automation opportunities
Mandatory Skills
• U.S. Citizenship
• Active TS/SCI Clearance
• Ability to obtain DHS Suitability
• 5+ years of experience in automation engineering, data engineering, or software development
• Strong Python programming skills and experience with data manipulation libraries
• Experience developing data pipelines, ETL processes, and automation solutions
• Knowledge of APIs, integration technologies, and automation frameworks
• Understanding of database systems and data modeling concepts
• Experience with Git and CI/CD practices
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
• Ability to translate business requirements into automated solutions
Preferred Skills
• Experience with malware analysis automation or cybersecurity tools
• Knowledge of AI/ML pipelines and data preparation workflows
• Experience with Airflow, Prefect, or similar orchestration tools
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Knowledge of Kafka, Kinesis, or other streaming platforms
• Familiarity with Spark, Hadoop, or other big data technologies
• Experience supporting federal cybersecurity programs
Education
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field
OR
• High School Diploma and 7+ years of directly relevant experience
Desired Certifications
• DoD 8140 IAT Level III
• Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP)
