Supervisory Clinical Psychologist

Duties

• Perform evaluations and provide treatments to patients.
• Plan work to be accomplished by subordinates.
• Evaluate overall success of therapeutic efforts and institute changes to increase effectiveness.
• Conduct specialty military evaluations to assess psychological fitness and suitability for military duties.
• Develop performance standards and evaluates work performance for subordinates.
• Evaluate overall success of therapeutic efforts and institute changes to increase effectiveness.
• Provides direct supervision to unlicensed Clinical Psychologists
• Conduct psychological evaluation and treatment for Service Members stationed at Naval Submarine Base New London and multiple outlying commands.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
• One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
• Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
• This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
• A pre-placement medical examination is required.
• Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
• Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
• This position may require the incumbent to work during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
• This position is designated "Mission Essential". in the event of severe weather conditions or other emergency type situations, the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work to support operations.
• This position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Psychologist License.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Clinical Psychologist:

Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting psychological assessment; conducting individual, family or group therapy; and instructing others on work or administration matters. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
