About the position

The Logistics Manager leads daily warehouse operations in support of the Navy Medical Readiness Logistic Command's Expeditionary Medical System mission. This role manages warehouse activities such as receiving, shipping, storage, picking, packing, disposal, and inventory control for medical supplies and equipment. The supervisor also uses DMLSS, HIMS, or other authorized DoD systems to track and manage Table of Allowances, AMALs, and ADALs accurately. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to follow local procedures, Navy guidance, and Department of Defense requirements.

Key Qualifications

The Logistics Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and managing all medical logistics, warehouse, inventory management, transportation, and supply chain operations in support of military medical readiness and expeditionary healthcare missions. This position provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the receipt, storage, accountability, distribution, and disposal of medical supplies, equipment, and deployable medical assets.

The Logistics Manager ensures compliance with Department of Defense (DoD), Navy, and organizational policies while maintaining operational readiness, inventory accuracy, and mission effectiveness. The position requires extensive experience in medical logistics, supply chain management, personnel leadership, and warehouse operations within military, government, or healthcare environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage all medical logistics and warehouse operations to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant execution of mission requirements.
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies, operational plans, and process improvements to enhance supply chain performance and readiness.
  • Oversee receiving, storage, inventory management, distribution, transportation, packaging, deployment, and disposal of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure accountability and visibility of medical materiel assets through effective use of DMLSS, HIMS, and other authorized logistics information systems.
  • Direct inventory control programs, including physical inventories, cyclic counts, location surveys, reconciliation efforts, and corrective action plans.
  • Manage medical assemblages, AMALs, ADALs, Table of Allowance assets, and Expeditionary Medical (EXMED) platform inventories.
  • Analyze logistics metrics and performance indicators to identify trends, mitigate risks, and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Supervise and mentor logistics personnel, establish performance objectives, and foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with government leadership, customers, vendors, transportation providers, and stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted logistics support.
  • Review quality assurance messages, recalls, safety notices, and regulatory directives to ensure timely implementation and compliance.
  • Manage warehouse safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA, DoD, and local safety requirements.
  • Oversee material handling equipment operations and ensure personnel maintain required certifications and training.
  • Support contingency operations, emergency response activities, audits, inspections, and readiness exercises.
  • Prepare reports, briefings, operational updates, and executive-level communications regarding logistics operations and performance.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of progressive experience in medical logistics, supply chain management, warehouse operations, or military logistics.
  • Minimum five (5) years of management or supervisory experience leading logistics personnel and operations.
  • Extensive experience with DMLSS, HIMS, GCSS, or other military and healthcare logistics management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of DoD medical logistics policies, inventory management principles, supply accountability, and warehouse operations.
  • Experience managing deployable medical systems, medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and healthcare supply chains preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any required government credentials, certifications, or security clearances.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of medical logistics and supply chain management principles.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and team-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and logistics management software.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong customer service and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in dynamic environments.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, reach, and move throughout warehouse and operational environments.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in warehouses, field, deployment, and austere environments as required.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, and hard hats.
  • Ability to travel occasionally in support of operational requirements.
