Job Description
BreakPoint Labs is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support a Department of War (DoW) client in operating and securing enterprise-wide area networks (WANs) for the research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) community. The Senior Network Engineer will serve as a technical leader responsible for network architecture, modernization, technology evaluation, engineering analysis, performance optimization, and Tier III support activities across the Department’s premier unclassified and classified RDT&E networks.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement network modernization strategies and technical roadmaps.
- Engineer scalable, resilient, and secure enterprise network architectures.
- Evaluate emerging networking technologies and provide recommendations for future-state network evolution.
- Perform network architecture assessments and develop modernization plans.
- Conduct engineering analysis, testing, validation, and verification of network solutions.
- Support hardware refresh planning and technology lifecycle management activities.
- Provide Tier III network engineering expertise for complex operational issues.
- Analyze network performance, capacity, utilization, and reliability metrics.
- Develop proof-of-concepts and pilot implementations for new technologies.
- Support integration, configuration, deployment, and upgrade activities.
- Develop architecture diagrams, engineering documentation, implementation plans, and technical reports.
- Produce executive briefings and technical recommendations for Government stakeholders.
- Ensure network solutions align with cybersecurity, operational, and mission requirements.
- Collaborate with Government engineers, program managers, cybersecurity personnel, and mission partners.
- Participate in technical working groups, design reviews, and strategic planning efforts.
- Support enterprise architecture development aligned with DoW and industry standards.
Required Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in network engineering, network architecture, or enterprise infrastructure engineering.
- Minimum 5 years supporting large-scale enterprise, Department of War or Federal Government networks.
- Experience designing, implementing, and sustaining enterprise network architectures.
- Experience supporting WAN, MAN, and large-scale routed environments.
- Experience conducting network performance analysis and optimization.
- Experience with enterprise network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience developing engineering plans, architecture documentation, and technical reports.
- Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical environments.
- Strong understanding of network security architecture and secure design principles.
- Experience briefing technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Certifications Required: Security+ Continuing Education (CE) [CompTIA] Networking (i.e., Cisco, Juniper) certifications preferred.
Security Clearance: Top Secret
Education Level Required: Associate Degree: Area(s) of Study Computer Science, Information Technology, or Cybersecurity.
