One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-04) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as: Experience in physical security support, including managing a security desk and overseeing key control, building access badges, visitor parking passes, and parking control. Experience in personnel security support, performing administrative duties including creating and maintaining reports, greeting visitors and guests, and ensuring administrative support work is performed in compliance with relevant regulations, guidelines and policies; creating, controlling, and monitoring the issuance of identification and fingerprinting.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
GS-05 Substitution of Education for Experience: Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation, or the equivalent, is a prerequisite may be substituted to meet the specialized experience required.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to substitute for the specialized experience requirement.

Additional information
- Monitors and controls the access points for the facility and the associated access control devices. Verifies visitor's authorization for entry through established regulations and procedures.
- Monitors the facility's Electronic Security System (ESS). This includes, but is not limited to cameras, alarmed zones, and access points. Conducts daily interior and exterior building checks to include parking areas.
- Conducts and documents Random Antiterrorism Measures (RAMs) as directed by the site Security Specialist. Assists in the implementation and enforcement of the DoD Force Protection Condition (FPCON) program for the facility.
- Answers the telephone and receives visitors, exercises discretion when supplying information.
- Uses Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) for verification of clearance. Maintains/updates personnel clearance database and provides detailed reports. Signs off on Systems Access Authorization Requests (SAARs) for assigned employees.
