Senior Network Engineer (F5 / Enterprise Infrastructure)
Location: Quantico, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite minimum)
Clearance: Active Top Secret required
Overview
We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support enterprise infrastructure operations within a secure, mission-critical federal environment. This role focuses on advanced network engineering, traffic management, and platform optimization across complex, multi-environment architectures.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with application delivery controllers, network operations, and enterprise-scale infrastructure in both on-premise and cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and manage application delivery and traffic management platforms, including advanced load balancing and access control solutions
Develop and maintain custom traffic rules, SSL configurations, health monitoring, and routing policies to optimize application performance
Support enterprise network environments across data centers, multiple security domains, and cloud-based platforms
Perform day-to-day network operations, including monitoring, maintenance, and performance optimization
Troubleshoot network issues at both the physical and logical layers, including protocol-level analysis
Analyze system performance trends to ensure capacity planning and scalability for current and future demand
Manage infrastructure lifecycle activities, including hardware refresh, upgrades, and end-of-life planning
Perform regular patching, security updates, and system hardening in alignment with enterprise standards
Conduct vulnerability assessments and compliance validation activities
Support backup and recovery operations, ensuring availability and resilience of network systems
Participate in change management processes, including documentation and approvals through established governance channels
Maintain and update network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational runbooks
Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions to improve performance, security, and reliability
Infrastructure & Integration Focus
Support hybrid environments integrating on-premise infrastructure and cloud-based environments
Ensure interoperability across multiple enclaves and systems
Manage and optimize network performance, bandwidth utilization, and traffic flow
Support secure network implementations aligned with enterprise security frameworks
Required Qualifications
Active Top Secret clearance
DoD 8140-compliant certification aligned to network operations roles (Intermediate or higher)
Strong experience with enterprise network engineering and operations
Hands-on experience with application delivery controllers (F5 or similar technologies)
Experience managing network infrastructure across complex environments
Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP), routing, and security principles
Experience with system patching, vulnerability management, and compliance standards
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network and infrastructure issues
Strong communication skills and ability to work across cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting multi-enclave or high-security environments
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and hybrid networking models
Experience with automation and performance optimization strategies
Background in network monitoring, analytics, and capacity planning tools
Experience working within structured change control and governance processes
