Job Title:
Joint Fires Network (JFN) NOC Engineer III

Job Description:
The NOC Engineer III will support network operations for the Joint Fires Network (JFN), a critical battle-management system used by the Department of Defense. This role focuses on maintaining and optimizing network performance across optical and IP transport systems to ensure maximum uptime and mission effectiveness.
Key responsibilities include:
• Execute network operations including configuration and analysis of customer circuits across optical and electro-optical multiplexers, routers, and switches
• Perform real-time circuit redesign (alternate routing) to restore connectivity during outages or maintenance activities
• Monitor network alarms using platform-specific management tools and proactively address issues
• Collaborate with internal teams, external customers, and government agencies to ensure network availability and minimize operational impact
• Perform change management tasks including hardware replacement, software configuration, and ASI management
• Document incidents using ticketing and incident management systems, including outage analysis, escalation, and resolution tracking
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across technologies such as routing, switching, MPLS, and optical transport systems

Required Skills:
• Minimum 8 years of experience, including at least 3 years in networking (IP or optical transport)
• Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility
• Security+ CE certification (required)
• Strong experience with:
o Cisco and Juniper technologies
o MPLS, IP networking, and routing protocols
o Optical transport networks (SONET/SDH, MSPP)
o Incident response and network operations
o Network management tools (e.g., SolarWinds)
o Ticketing systems (e.g., JIRA)
• Knowledge of telecom environments including ISP/OSP and Telco NOC operations
• Experience with circuit management, nodes, and network infrastructure
