Job Description
Clearance Required: Active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain & maintain a Polygraph
Location: Herndon, VA | On-Site Full-Time
Contract: Long-term federal GEOINT program — work assured through at least 2030
ClearanceJobs is actively seeking a DevSecOps Engineer for our client located in Herndon, VA. ClearanceJobs is the largest career network for professionals with federal government security clearances, connecting cleared talent with the opportunities that matter most. We are committed to matching top-tier candidates with clients who depend on mission-focused professionals to support national security, defense, and intelligence community initiatives. Our team works closely with hiring managers to understand their needs and deliver candidates who are not only technically qualified but cleared and ready to contribute from day one.
The ideal candidate must have experience to join the platform engineering team supporting a mission-critical geospatial intelligence system used across the U.S. military and intelligence community. This role is focused on building and operating the infrastructure that keeps a high-availability, enterprise-scale platform running — CI/CD pipelines, containerized workloads, security-embedded delivery, and automated environment management.
You will work embedded within an Agile delivery organization, partnering with software development Scrum teams to ensure reliable, repeatable deployments and a hardened platform that meets the security and performance demands of a national security mission. If you thrive in a pipeline-and-platform role and want long-term stability on a meaningful IC program, this is that opportunity.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
• Design, build, and operate CI/CD pipelines for containerized workloads across development, test, and production environments.
• Administer and maintain Kubernetes clusters — including RBAC, networking, ingress controllers, secrets management, autoscaling, and lifecycle upgrades.
• Package and deploy services using Helm and Kustomize with repeatable, versioned release strategies aligned to GitOps standards.
• Automate environment provisioning using Infrastructure as Code tooling, embedding security controls and compliance checks at every stage of the pipeline.
• Implement and enforce DevSecOps practices including automated security scanning, policy-as-code, and audit-ready pipeline documentation.
• Partner with development Scrum teams during Agile ceremonies to support deployment planning, environment readiness, and release coordination.
• Contribute to platform observability — monitoring, alerting, and incident response — to sustain operational uptime as the program's primary mandate.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field
• Hands-on Kubernetes experience in a production or production-equivalent environment — cluster administration, RBAC, networking, and workload management.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent tooling.
• Docker containerization experience — building images, managing container lifecycle, and running multi-service environments.
• Familiarity with GitOps principles and tools (ArgoCD, Flux, or equivalent) for declarative, automated deployments.
• Active Security+ certification required prior to start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with Helm chart development and Kustomize overlays for environment-specific configuration management.
• Infrastructure as Code experience: Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent for repeatable environment automation.
• Familiarity with security scanning tools integrated into CI/CD pipelines (Snyk, Trivy, SonarQube, or equivalent).
• Experience working in a cleared or classified environment with an understanding of government security and compliance requirements.
• Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, or similar for pipeline automation and tooling support.
• Experience working within a SAFe or other scaled Agile environment alongside active software development teams.
• Background in a Linux-based operating environment (Red Hat preferred).
Clearance Requirements:
• Active TS/SCI with the ability to obtain & maintain a Polygraph
Location:
• Herndon, VA.
• On-site full-time at a designated secure facility. No remote option available.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods, operate standard office equipment including a computer, keyboard, and telephone, and occasionally move about the work environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
