Job Description
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support classified cloud environments and space-focused programs in Denver, CO. This role is responsible for leading security compliance efforts through the full Risk Management Framework (RMF) lifecycle while ensuring systems meet DoD, Space Force, and federal cybersecurity requirements. The ideal candidate has strong experience with RMF, ATO processes, and security frameworks supporting mission-critical systems.

Work Environment:
On-site role in Denver, CO supporting classified systems, cloud security, and mission-critical space and defense programs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead execution of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) steps to obtain and maintain IATT and ATO authorizations for cloud-based classified systems.
- Develop, implement, and maintain security policies and procedures in accordance with CNSSI 1253 , NIST 800-53 , and related federal standards.
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability assessments, implementing mitigation strategies to reduce system risk.
- Support and coordinate formal security assessments with Government Security Control Assessors.
- Maintain continuous monitoring of security controls to ensure ongoing compliance and effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain System Security Plans (SSPs) and associated artifacts within eMASS.
- Manage Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) and track remediation efforts.
- Lead incident response activities including investigation, containment, reporting, and remediation.
- Analyze and respond to SIEM alerts and security events.
- Develop and deliver security awareness and training programs for system users.
- Collaborate with ISSMs, FSOs, system administrators, and engineering teams to ensure a cohesive security posture.
- Stay current on evolving cybersecurity threats, technologies, and regulatory requirements to continuously improve security processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of information security experience supporting DoD or Space programs .
- Strong experience working through RMF Steps 1-6 and managing ATO lifecycle activities.
- Deep knowledge of NIST 800-53 , CNSSI 1253 , and related federal cybersecurity frameworks.
- Experience working with eMASS , SIEM tools, and vulnerability management solutions.
- Strong understanding of security concepts including STIG compliance, IDS/IPS, and secure system architecture.
- Experience supporting cloud-based or containerized environments (e.g., Kubernetes, AWS GovCloud, CI/CD pipelines) preferred.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work across technical and compliance teams.
Certifications & Requirements:
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification required (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent).
- IAT Level III certification preferred (e.g., CISSP, CISM, or equivalent).
Clearance Requirement:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Active Secret clearance required ; TS/SCI preferred .
Preferred:
- Experience supporting Space Authorizing Officials (AO) or DCSA compliance efforts.
- Experience securing cloud or containerized systems in classified environments.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and secure network architectures.
- Experience leading or supporting a full Information Security Program.
Compensation:
- Pay range: $110,000 - $120,000 (Based on years of relevant experience)
