Job Description

Duties

  • You will be responsible for planning weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates.
  • You will be responsible for establishing deadlines and priorities on the basis of general work schedule, methods, and policies established by higher levels of supervision.
  • You will assign tasks to be performed and explain work requirements, methods, and procedures; instructs subordinates in new procedures; and provides advice when problems arise.
  • You will develop performance standards, counsel employees on performance, and create formal and informal performance appraisals.
  • You will review job descriptions for currency and accuracy and make necessary changes.
  • You will be responsible for interviewing candidates for vacancies and recommend selections.
  • You will be responsible for counseling employees on problems and adjust informal complaints through discussion with employees and union representatives.
  • You will be responsible for overseeing the Safety Program to perform safety management responsibilities that include attending safety meetings and coordinating safety requirements with the base range safety and installation safety offices.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring that subordinates are adequately informed of their responsibilities concerning hazardous materials/waste with the work area.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
