This role provides technical leadership across the system life cycle—requirements analysis, design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment. The engineer will work closely with government stakeholders, system owners, and multi disciplinary teams to ensure technical integrity and successful system delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyze user requirements, CONOPS, and system architectures to develop system requirements
• Lead design and development activities and advise users on requirements and alternative approaches
• Provide technical leadership for integrating requirements, design, and technology
• Incorporate new designs and technologies into operational environments
• Develop technical documentation, system architectures, and design artifacts
• Support system engineering management plans, integration planning, and system test plans
• Coordinate with government counterparts on technical issues, risks, and system integrity
• Manage system and derived requirements to ensure compatibility with architectures (DoDAF, SOA)
• Contribute to development of SE documents (SEPs, ICDs, Specs, Interface Control Docs)
• Allocate system functions to hardware, software, facilities, and personnel components
• Coordinate action items from CCBs, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews
• Participate in IPTs to design new capabilities and evaluate development and operational impacts
• Generate system concepts, physical architectures, and alternative design solutions
• Define verification methods and criteria; develop verification plans
• Develop system design solutions aligned with functional analyses
• Support interface definition, configuration changes, and cross team coordination
• Derive lower level requirements and ensure they are complete, correct, and verifiable
• Plan and execute risk management activities in accordance with approved plans
• Support DoD Certification & Accreditation processes and JCIDS documentation
• Perform quantitative assessments in areas such as reliability, maintainability, survivability, and producibility
• Establish and manage integration activities across multiple teams
• Maintain technical integrity of the system baseline through the system lifecycle
• Prepare operational concepts, scenarios, and time line analyses
Required Technical Skills
• Experience supporting on premises and AWS cloud systems
• Strong knowledge of Linux (Amazon Linux 2023, RHEL 8/9) and Windows Server (2016/2022)
• Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy management
• Experience with Salt, BASH, Python, and Ansible
• Deploying, configuring, and maintaining security related services including:
– McAfee/Trellix agents and ePO
– Tenable Nessus agents
– BigFix
• Ability to track, manage, and remediate security vulnerabilities across complex environments
• Experience managing and maintaining server infrastructure in cloud based environments
Qualifications
• Top Secret/SCI clearance and Full Scope Polygraph required — no exceptions
• 14 years of experience as a System Engineer on programs of similar scope and complexity
• Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline
• Five (5) additional years of SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
• Must have one IAT Level II certification (CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE)
