The Physical Security (PHYSEC) Analyst provides expert-level support for physical security policy development, planning, assessment, risk management, and program administration at a military service headquarters level. The analyst serves as a subject matter expert in physical security programs and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to protect personnel, facilities, critical assets, and infrastructure through the implementation of security policies, risk-based methodologies, and access control programs. These duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • The Physical Security (PHYSEC) Analyst will support the development, implementation, and administration of physical security policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Conduct physical security planning, assessments, and program evaluations to ensure compliance with applicable federal, DHS, DoD, and agency requirements.
  • Provide expertise in physical access control, access control systems, identity management, credential management, and critical asset protection.
  • The Physical Security (PHYSEC) Analyst will apply security engineering principles and risk management methodologies, including the Interagency Security Committee (ISC) Risk Management Process (RMP), to evaluate and mitigate physical security risks.
  • Analyze and assess physical security requirements for facilities, infrastructure, and critical assets.
  • Develop, review, refine, and modify complex technical security documents, reports, policies, guidance, and briefing materials for diverse audiences.
  • The Physical Security (PHYSEC) Analyst will prepare clear, concise, and actionable correspondence, policy documents, and guidance in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard correspondence standards.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with government personnel, security professionals, engineers, and other subject matter experts to achieve organizational objectives and consensus.
  • The Physical Security (PHYSEC) Analyst will facilitate working groups, meetings, and stakeholder engagements related to physical security initiatives and programs.
  • The Physical Security (PHYSEC) Analyst will support compliance reporting, risk assessments, and program management activities using government security databases and information systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
  • Demonstrated experience performing staff officer, action officer, or equivalent functions supporting physical security programs at a military service headquarters, federal agency headquarters, or comparable organization.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Physical access control
    • Access control systems
    • Identity and credential management
    • Critical asset protection
    • Physical security assessments
    • Security engineering design
    • Interagency Security Committee (ISC) standards and Risk Management Process (RMP)
    • Facility security and infrastructure protection
    • Physical security risk assessment methodologies
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 and DoD365 collaboration environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate complex technical security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical writing skills with the ability to prepare policies, reports, briefing materials, correspondence, and executive-level communications.
  • Ability to draft documents that effectively direct action, provide guidance, and explain policy objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across multiple disciplines and organizational levels.
  • Experience facilitating collaboration among diverse stakeholder groups and building consensus on security-related initiatives.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to government information systems and databases, including:
    • MPICAM
    • ISMS
    • Modified Infrastructure Survey Tool (MIST)
    • Interagency Security Committee Compliance System (ISC-CS)
    • Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN)

Minimum Education/General Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in a security related discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years documented qualifying experience are required or
  • 10 years of documented experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required government system access and security clearances necessary to perform assigned duties
  • Must comply with all applicable government policies, procedures, and requirements governing access to government facilities, information systems, and databases.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, or other federal security programs.
  • Knowledge of federal physical security standards, ISC requirements, and critical infrastructure protection programs.
  • Experience conducting facility security assessments and vulnerability analyses.
  • Professional certifications related to physical security, security management, risk management, or facility protection are desirable.
