Job Description

Duties

  • Serves as a staff officer in the S-2/3 for the Army Sustainment Command (ASC). Formulate, evaluate, and coordinate logistics plans and policies.
  • Analyze mission objectives to determine the kind and extent of support required, coordinate with functional representatives to ensure adequate manpower, supplies, equipment and services meet specific requirements.
  • Assist in the establishment of training objectives, master of scenario event listing, and coordinate with internal and external staff in accomplishing tasks and missions.
  • Provide advice to management officials on training and development matters, such as procedures for assessment of training needs; training necessary to support short-and long-term needs; training methods and facilities.
  • Monitor and track training requirements and maintain updates in a battalion tasker database; plans, reports and evaluates training requirements.
  • Produce and utilize reports, to include briefing products, through visualization software such as Power BI, MAVEN Smart System, and other emerging software.
  • Attend logistics conferences, meetings, seminars, boards and workshops as a briefer to recommend logistics problem resolutions and new or improved techniques, policies, and/or procedures.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a Tier 3/Secret Security Clearance.
  • In accordance with AR 690-11, this position has been designated as "Emergency-Essential." Emergency-Essential designation takes precedence over any transportation agreement or military recall status. You must be exempt from military recall status.
  • In the event of a crisis situation or wartime, you must continue to perform the duties of the position to ensure the success of combat operations or to support combat essential systems subsequent to mobilization/evacuation order.
  • This is a deployable Department of the Army Civilian position. As such, incumbent must pass an initial and annual medical examination and receive/maintain up-to-date required immunization for the overseas or deployed location.
  • This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete on-line computer based training and residential deployment training, as applicable.
  • Position may require TDY and/or deployment of any length including 6 months in duration or longer in CONUS or OCONUS in austere locations.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
  • Subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While in probationary period, the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Planning and/or monitoring training requirements for personnel; 2) Conducting analysis of logistical facets pertaining to contingency, emergency, mobilization plans, and/or operations; and 3) Resolving logistics problems and/or issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

  • Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 13 months by a current permanent Army employee. Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
