Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Cloud Systems Administrator to support a US Government RDT&E program . This position is a full-time, onsite role in San Diego, CA . This position is critical in designing, securing, and deploying a cloud-based networked environment supporting research, development, testing, and evaluation initiatives.
As a Cloud Systems Administrator , you will play a pivotal role in architecting and delivering secure, scalable AWS-based solutions within a high-stakes government environment, working alongside a small, highly skilled team of engineers to build and deploy innovative cloud capabilities.

This position is critical in designing, securing, and deploying a cloud-based networked environment supporting research, development, testing, and evaluation initiatives.
As a Cloud Systems Administrator , you will play a pivotal role in architecting and delivering secure, scalable AWS-based solutions within a high-stakes government environment, working alongside a small, highly skilled team of engineers to build and deploy innovative cloud capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, secure, and deploy cloud-native solutions in AWS (single and multi-cloud environments).
- Build and manage serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, IAM roles, and triggers defined via CloudFormation (IaC).
- Develop and maintain cloud automation scripts using Python, Bash, Ansible, YAML, JSON, and JavaScript.
- Engineer and manage containerized environments using Docker, Kubernetes, AWS EKS/ECS, and Red Hat OpenShift.
- Support automated CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
- Collaborate across teams in a matrixed organization to deliver integrated solutions.
- Work effectively under deadlines while managing multiple concurrent technical efforts.
- Present findings, audit results, and remediation strategies to stakeholders and leadership.
- Ensure compliance with RMF cybersecurity standards, including DISA STIGs, ACAS, and SCAP tools.
Requirements:
- Active Secret Clearance (required)
- 3+ years of AWS experience
- 3+ years of Linux administration experience
- Experience with Red Hat OpenShift environments
- Working knowledge of Windows systems
Certifications (IAT Level II - Required):
Both of the following:
- Security+ CE
- AWS Certified Developer - Associate
Compensation:
- $125,000 - $135,000 *depending on experience*
