Job Description
Role: Network Engineer
Location: Flexible (travel required to support program sites)
Clearance: Active Secret required (Top Secret preferred/eligible)
Overview
We are seeking a Network Engineer to support a large-scale missile defense program focused on command, control, and communications. This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting enterprise network infrastructure across mission-critical environments.
The ideal candidate will bring strong networking fundamentals, hands-on experience with multi-vendor environments, and the ability to operate independently in both operational and deployment settings.
Key Responsibilities
Configure, maintain, and support enterprise network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls)
Monitor network performance and resolve issues related to latency, packet loss, and connectivity
Implement and support core networking technologies including VLANs, OSPF, and BGP
Troubleshoot network incidents across LAN/WAN environments and perform root cause analysis
Support network design, upgrades, and infrastructure improvements
Integrate and support systems across multi-vendor environments (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto)
Support network installations and deployments at remote sites, including travel as needed
Provide regular updates and status reports to program stakeholders
Support after-hours activities when required to maintain mission-critical operations
Basic Qualifications
Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with 8+ years of experience, OR Master’s with 6+ years, OR 12+ years of relevant experience
Active DoD 8140 / IAT Level II certification (Security+ or equivalent)
Current CCNA or JNCIA certification
Strong understanding of OSI model and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
Experience with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
Hands-on experience with multi-vendor routing and switching (Cisco, Juniper)
Firewall experience, especially with Juniper, Fortinet, or Palo Alto
Experience troubleshooting network traffic and performing diagnostics and analysis
Experience with VLANs, GRE tunnels, multicast, and WAN technologies
Familiarity with secure communications technologies including TACLANE and encrypted environments
Strong communication skills with experience creating technical documentation and diagrams
Preferred Qualifications
Active Top Secret clearance
Advanced certifications such as CCNP or JNCIP
Experience supporting DoD programs or missile defense systems
Familiarity with STIG compliance and accreditation processes
Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible)
Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware (NSX, vSAN)
Previous experience supporting command and control systems
