Position Overview

Ataero is seeking a Telecommunications Mechanic II (Network Installer) to support WOLF communications, network infrastructure, and systems integration efforts. The selected candidate will provide hands-on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment support for telecommunications equipment, network infrastructure, servers, fiber optic systems, and communications technologies supporting government and Department of Defense customers.

The successful candidate will work independently and as part of installation teams supporting network deployments, infrastructure modernization efforts, laboratory environments, and operational communications systems. This position requires extensive hands-on technical expertise and the ability to support projects throughout the United States and overseas locations. Military communications, signal, network infrastructure, telecommunications, and field services experience are highly desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot telecommunications and network infrastructure systems.
  • Fabricate, terminate, install, test, and troubleshoot copper and fiber optic cabling systems, including Cat5, Cat6, multimode fiber, and single-mode fiber.
  • Install and support routers, switches, servers, transmission equipment, and associated communications hardware.
  • Perform server installation activities including rack integration, ILO/iDRAC configuration, NIC card installation, hardware replacement, and equipment decommissioning.
  • Install, align, secure, and maintain network racks, cabinets, equipment bays, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Conduct cable tracing, wire management, labeling, and documentation activities.
  • Utilize diagnostic and test equipment to validate installations and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Support laboratory operations and assist with resolution of network and communications issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, installation records, rack elevation diagrams, parts inventories, maintenance logs, and weekly activity reports.
  • Support equipment inventory management and asset accountability requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and customer personnel to ensure successful project execution.
  • Maintain compliance with customer requirements, security procedures, and industry best practices.


Qualifications
  • Secret security clearance required.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • One of the following education and experience combinations:
    • Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of related experience; or
    • Associate Degree and 7+ years of related experience; or
    • 9+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience supporting network infrastructure, telecommunications systems, cable installations, or communications equipment deployments.
  • Experience installing and troubleshooting copper and fiber optic communications systems.
  • Experience with networking equipment from manufacturers such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Dell, HP, or similar platforms.
  • Experience supporting structured cabling, equipment installations, and network infrastructure deployments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, installation diagrams, and equipment documentation.


Desired Qualifications
  • Military Signal Corps, Communications, Network Infrastructure, Information Technology, or Telecommunications experience.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or government communications environments.
  • Experience with multimode and single-mode fiber tracing, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with UPS systems, CRAC units, and data center infrastructure.
  • Experience maintaining inventory systems and technical asset records.
  • Ability to utilize Visio, CAD, or similar technical drawing applications.
  • Familiarity with network operations centers (NOCs), laboratory environments, and communications testing facilities.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance highly desirable.

Travel Required

Up to 50% CONUS/OCONUS Travel

Travel is required to support installation, modernization, maintenance, testing, and deployment activities at government facilities, customer locations, operational environments, laboratories, and field sites throughout the United States and overseas locations.
