Job Description
Mount Indie is seeking a Firewall Administrator to support the defense and daily operations of a Research, Development, Test, and Evaluation (RDT&E) network for a U.S. Government customer. This role focuses heavily on foundational troubleshooting and daily network maintenance. The ideal candidate must possess a strong analytical mindset, a solid grasp of network troubleshooting principles, and the readiness to assist senior staff with firewall configurations and continuous monitoring.
This position is on-site in San Diego, CA.

Position Duties:
- Configuration, management, and daily maintenance of Palo Alto firewalls.
- Perform routine network maintenance and act as the frontline troubleshooter for network security and connectivity issues.
- Manage, review, and maintain Access Control Lists (ACLs) and process port exception requests.
- Assist in ensuring that Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and other routine security updates are properly applied and documented.

Position Required
- Clearance: Current DoD Secret Clearance (or higher).
- Must be able to work 100% on-site in San Diego, CA.
- 4 years of relevant experience
- Experience drafting and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Experience as a Palo Alto Firewall Administrator
- Experience with DoD STIGs
Certifications: Must hold a current DoD 8570 IAT Level II baseline certification. Acceptable certifications include ONE of the following:
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA CySA+
- CCNA - Security
- GICSP
- GSEC
- SSCP
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Working knowledge of the OSI network model (specifically network traffic flow).
- Basic knowledge of Ports, Protocols, Services, and Management (PPSM).
- Working knowledge of network configuration for standard switches and routers.
- Basic understanding of vulnerability research, hardware exploitation, and physical security.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server core elements (Domain Controllers, Active Directory, Registry, GPO creation, DISM, SCCM).
- Knowledge of web development, HTML structure, and foundational Cloud elements.
