Principal Cyber Systems Engineer (Level 3)
Senior Level | Active Secret Clearance Required | $80,000 - $110,000 | Travel: Yes (10%) | Onsite: Huntsville, AL
Support mission-critical missile defense operations-providing cyber systems engineering, systems integration, automation, and cybersecurity support for advanced Ground Weapon System (GWS) capabilities supporting the Missile Defense Agency's national defense mission.
A Day in the Life - What you'll do
Provide cyber systems engineering support for large-scale missile defense programs and operational weapon system environments.
Support the development, integration, testing, and sustainment of cyber-enabled system capabilities.
Develop and implement operating system automation solutions supporting Ground Weapon System product teams.
Support planning, coordination, and integration of Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL/HCIL) laboratory environments and connectivity infrastructure.
Assist with integration and testing activities supporting program baseline milestones and mission objectives.
Provide operational support for fielded systems, troubleshooting issues encountered during testing, exercises, and mission operations.
Collaborate with software, systems, network, cybersecurity, and test engineering teams to ensure successful system integration and mission execution.
Develop technical documentation, procedures, work instructions, and contract deliverables supporting engineering and operational activities.
Support cybersecurity compliance efforts and implementation of security controls across mission systems.
Participate in Agile development activities supporting software integration, testing, and deployment efforts.
Conduct technical analysis and develop engineering solutions for complex cyber systems challenges.
Provide recommendations to program leadership regarding system performance, cybersecurity posture, and operational readiness.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of cyber systems engineering experience, or Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of cyber systems engineering experience
- Active DoD Secret security clearance required
- Current DoD 8140/8570 certification such as Security+ CE, CySA+, CISSP, or equivalent
- Experience supporting large-scale Missile Defense Agency (MDA) or missile defense system programs
- Experience with Agile software development methodologies
- Experience with object-oriented architectures and software engineering principles
- Experience supporting software integration, system integration, and testing activities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and communicate complex technical concepts through documentation, presentations, and technical discussions
- Ability to work independently and within cross-functional engineering teams
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% in support of program requirements
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Experience developing and implementing operating system automation solutions supporting mission systems
- Experience supporting Ground Weapon System (GWS) Product Teams, including GFC, GSS, IDT, or similar operational environments
- Experience supporting Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL/HCIL) laboratory integration, testing, and connectivity efforts
- Experience supporting program baseline milestones (PBMs), integration testing, and verification activities
- Experience supporting fielded operational systems and troubleshooting issues encountered during operational testing and mission execution
- Experience developing Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables, technical manuals, procedures, and engineering documentation
- Knowledge of missile defense architectures, command and control systems, and mission system operations
- Experience collaborating across Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) supporting cybersecurity, software, systems, and test engineering efforts
- Familiarity with Linux and Windows operating environments in secure defense networks
- Active Top Secret clearance or TS/SCI eligibility preferred
