- Master's degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years' relevant experience
- Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required)
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, expert attention-to-detail & highly organized
- Knowledge of AF instructions and operations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
- Enterprise Environmental Safety & Occupational Health Management Information System (EESOH-MIS) training and experience highly desired.
- Prior AF experience and/or experience in laboratory setting working with scientists and engineers preferred
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advise and assist in support of the AFRL/RW Environmental and Occupational Health (EOH) office, a subset of AFRL/RW Det 6 Safety Group, by using scientific and technical expertise to help ensure RW mission effectiveness.
- Advise and assist performing Indoor Air Quality surveys (as needed) and coordinate results through 96 AMDS/SGPB; coordinating with 96 CEG/CEIEA to identify asbestos containing materials in AFRL/RW facilities and their subsequent remediation; as well as the following:
- Review/process HAZMAT authorizations requests for three (3) Hazardous Materials Issue Points and 15 zones.
- Perform semi-annual HAZMAT reconciliations and spot inspections to ensure proper labeling, storage, use, and disposal of HAZMAT. Must regularly visit sites to monitor rate of use of HAZMATs and proper inspection and maintenance of hazardous waste receptacles. Provide "on-the-spot" corrections if warranted.
- Utilize Enterprise Environmental Safety & Occupational Health - Management Information System (EESOH-MIS) database to manage and track HAZMAT authorizations. Must be able to apply for or update materials authorizations, track materials, and delete materials no longer being used.
- Maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database - E
- Ensure SDSs are current and available for all AFRL/RW HAZMAT inventory for use as a hazard communication tool.
- Perform reviews on current HAZMAT authorizations to identify inactive authorizations for deletion.
- Manage AFRL/RW Special, Hazardous and Universal Waste collection sites and oversee the management of sites and satellite facilities.
- Advise shops on proper HAZMAT/hazardous waste collection methods and containers, hazardous waste stream analysis and disposal of hazardous waste. Must be able to advise HAZMAT issue point managers at remote sites to ensure that they are properly using EESOH-MIS tools and are apprised of regulatory changes/additions.
- Coordinate with Eglin hazardous waste contractor for pick-up and transport of HAZMAT/hazardous waste.
- Serve as the liaison to Eglin Bioenvironmental Engineering (96 AMDS/SGPB); assist in the coordination of industrial hygiene surveillance for 15 shops and inform 96 AMDS/SGPB on changes in workplace operations that could influence personnel hazard exposure.
- Conduct regular inspections of AFRL/RW work areas (visit a work site at least quarterly) to ensure that occupational health standards AF OSHA standards are being observed. This includes but is limited to inspection of eyewashes and emergency showers, personal protective equipment, and training records.
- Perform as project lead responsible for the AFRL Division Level HAZMAT / HAZARDOUS WASTE Program
- Advise and assist as HAZMAT custodian and maintain, improve, and execute the HAZMAT and ESOH programs IAW AFMAN 32-70XX series instructions and AFPD 90-8 Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health, including all Command and Local supplements. This task includes daily advice and assistance to:
- Maintain an inventory of authorizations and containers of hazardous material.
- Track the use, movement and turn-in of all hazardous materials in the branch.
- Ensure all branch personnel information in the Hazardous Materials Management System (HMMS) is current.
- Ensure the Material Safety Data sheets for all hazardous materials are available, in both hard copy and electronic format, to all branch personnel at all times.
- Track all HAZMAT while on order, and ensure all delivered items are input into a receiving log and added to the HMMS and local databases.
- Perform necessary actions to add and remove HAZMAT authorizations. Initiate and submit Procurement Worksheets for HAZMAT orders.
- Maintain hard copy records of all HAZMAT orders.
- Provide labeling for HAZMAT containers.
- Serve site manager the universal waste mercury and fluorescent lamps site ID: UW-1200-1.
- Advise and assist maintaining, improving, and executing the Working Area Support Stock (WASS) program for RWOP IAW the Bench Stock, Shop Stock and Operating Stock sections of AFI 21-101 Aircraft and Equipment Maintenance Management, including all Command and Local supplements.
- Assist with facility planning, maintenance and upgrade actions.
- Assist with procurement and maintenance of equipment and supplies for multiple facilities; maintain acquisition records, AF records management
- Review maintenance status of assigned equipment and vehicles including scheduling any maintenance required.
- Maintain accountability records of Government and non-Government owned property, hardware and test equipment, as well as inventory control (DRMO, etc.).
- Assist in management of vehicle fleet and vehicle control programs.
- Assist organization with preparation for all inspections.
