We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable engineer to join our tight-knit group. The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for an Engineer in the Post Boost Control System (PBCS) IPT that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the PBCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The PBCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the PBCS which is an attitude control and propulsive subsystem controlling the missile in a phase of the flight.
The Post-Boost Control team is seeking a mechanical engineer to support the requalification, production, and sustainment efforts for the PBCS Gas Generator, which is a solid rocket motor gas generator for the PBCS. In this role, you will be responsible for the technical team's requalification efforts, production process escape or anomaly resolution, manufacturing non-conformance dispositioning, and ensuring the design meets our technical and design requirements. The candidate may also assist with program planning, funding requests, schedule tracking, Statement of work (SOW) writing, labor estimating, proposal cycles, qualification plan reviews, providing program status, and driving execution of the individual technical efforts. The candidate will also support production activities for the gas generator D5LE production.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or technical field
- Any combination of experience in: engineering project management, supplier management, mechanical engineering, manufacturing or production, propulsion, technical evaluations, tracking and/or development of cost/schedule
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
- Experience in working with suppliers and external customers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems
Desired Skills:
- Previous experience with Production, Solid Rocket Motors, or FBM processes
- Organized, flexible, have strong interpersonal skills, take initiative, manage multiple tasks effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Previous proposal, Statement-of-Work (SOW), Basis-of-Estimates (BOE), and/or Technical Evaluation (TE) experience.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues
- Understanding of refractory metals, mechanical engineering manufacturing processes, or solid rocket motor experience

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
