As part of our 21st Century Security vision, Lockheed Martin is investing in advancing multi-function sensing capabilities. Our Converged Sensors team is accelerating multi-function aperture & multi-function processing technologies through research, development, & demonstrations.

Who You Are

Our team is seeking a driven Principal Systems Engineer to help lead the cross-program development & implementation of advanced digital sensor architectures in open architecture platforms with challenging size, weight, power and cost (SWaP-C) constrained environments. In this role, you will serve as a systems engineer for enterprise sensor / board / component designs to architect, prototype, demonstrate and transition technology to Flexible Communications, Radar, and Electronic Warfare (FlexCREW) systems.

A Level 6 employee is typically senior-career, can lead with technical breadth and depth, and has 13-15+ years of professional experience.

What You Will Do (The Work)

• Join the Converged Sensors Systems Engineering team to develop advanced multi-function sensor capabilities

• Collaborate on programs across lines of business (LoB) and business areas (BA) to understand requirements, develop solutions, and transition capabilities

• Define RF Systems: Comms/Radar/EW

concept of operations (CONOPs)

• Drive new business capture by generating artifacts and authoring response sections in proposal development phase

• Design RF Systems: Comms/Radar/EW

system architectures

• Perform systems analysis & design from system sizing, requirements definition, & modeling

• Collaborate in a cross-functional team to deploy capabilities into a heterogeneous compute environment

Please note:

You will work out of our Moorestown, NJ location, & report to our Converged Sensors organization.

This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD government clearance at the Top Secret level.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent field

- Minimum of 13-15 years of relevant development experience

- Background in RF Systems: Comms/Radar/EW

- Prior RF Systems: Comms/Radar/EW

systems engineering and/or architecture role(s)

- Familiarity with electronic protection (EP) techniques and Radar systems

- Experience working on low technology readiness level (TRL) systems

- Active or ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearance

- Ability to support up to 10% travel

Desired Skills:

A successful candidate will have both breadth and depth to be able to lead and drive major development scope with a Systems Engineering Mindset.

- Master's degree or higher in relevant field

- Experience with embedded software development

- Familiarity with deploying RF Systems: Comms/Radar/EW

capabilities on FPGA's

- Expertise in digital signal processing & algorithm development

- Prior experience in the defense industry or related field

- Knowledge of Agile & DevSecOps methodologies

- Research and development proposal experience

- Excellent verbal & written communication skills

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $151,200 - $266,570. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $173,900 - $301,415. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
