Job Description

Duties

  • You will perform work in support of energetic formulation development, experimentation, and preparation and testing of said formulations.
  • You will take an active role in the purchasing of chemicals, materials and parts needed to support formulation development.
  • You will coordinate the movement and inventory of explosives as required.
  • You will actively communicate with counterparts in M-Dept to schedule time in the plant to support material manufacturing requirements.
  • You will prepare appropriate safety documentation while understanding and using Command explosive and Occupational Safety Health (OSH) programs.
  • You will participate and organize, as required, meetings in support of the safety process to understand and mitigate exposure to hazardous environments.
  • You will prepare cost estimates, experiment and test plans, and similar documentation.
  • You will conduct basic non-routine testing and evaluation.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
Qualifications

For the NT-02:
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-01 (GS 1-4 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: reading and interpreting energetic formulation development, experimentation, preparation and testing of said formulations, and assist in the purchasing of parts needed to support formulation development.

For the NT-03:Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-02 (GS 5-8 equivalent) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing energetic formulation development, experimentation, and preparation and testing of said formulations, and purchasing of parts needed to support formulation development.

Education

Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:

FOR THE NT-03:
Successful completion of two full years of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled. Help/working-in-government/unique-hiring-paths/students/federal-occupations-by-college-major/

OR

A combination of experience and graduate level education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

FOR THE NT-02:

Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.

OR

A combination of experience and post high school education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.

This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.

This announcement uses the STRL for Direct Support direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates.

Work is in office, laboratory and manufacturing plant settings. Moderate lifting, climbing, bending, stooping are expected.
