Position Overview Publication quality determines how clearly joint doctrine reaches the force. The Editor supports the Joint Doctrine Development Community by editing and formatting coordination drafts so issues are caught early in drafting. The role improves order, clarity, and consistency across joint publications before they advance through coordination. Essential Job Function

- Edit and format coordination drafts of joint publications, JDNs, and emerging doctrine for upload into JDDT.
- Identify and flag formatting, grammatical, and stylistic issues early in the drafting process.
- Apply joint doctrine editorial standards for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
- Support preparation of signature drafts in Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Associate Degree or equivalent in Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline; or no degree with 2 years of experience in the areas below.
- Experience: Demonstrated success in two (2) or more of the following: joint or Service doctrine development and publishing processes; document formatting features of software tools; editing documents to set standards for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology; and editing software such as Microsoft Word, Adobe, CorelDraw, and Photoshop.
- Security Clearance: Secret (per Staffing Plan).
- Prior experience editing DoD or Joint Staff publications.
- Working knowledge of the Joint Doctrine Development Tool (JDDT).
