Job Description

The Logistics & Transport specialist serves as a versatile position to the team, ensuring high-efficiency supply chain performance through precise inventory management and optimized distribution to support core operations. This role ensures the accurate Transportation, handling, storage, and movement of inventory and materials across multiple warehouse locations in accordance with established procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities include Heavy vehicle operation, receiving and issuing goods, maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting procurement and disposal activities, and assisting with warehouse organization and logistics planning. The Logistics & Transport specialist collaborates with internal teams, external contractors, and suppliers to support the smooth delivery of logistics operations.

Working in a dynamic and at times physically demanding environment, the Logistics & Transport specialist must adapt to varying priorities, environmental conditions (such as heat, cold, and dust), and stakeholder expectations. The role contributes to the overall reliability and responsiveness of the logistics function, upholding safety, integrity, and professional service delivery in line with organizational values and mission objectives.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Logistics & Transport Specialist is expected to carry out the following duties in accordance with established procedures, safety standards, and operational requirements:
  • Long-haul vehicle operation - Safely operate heavy vehicles over extended distances in accordance with all road laws, fatigue-management requirements, organizational policies, and load-handling procedures, ensuring timely and compliant delivery of passengers, goods, or equipment.
  • Receive, inspect, and process inbound consignments, ensuring accurate documentation, quality checks, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Perform deliveries within Australia.
  • Package, palletize, and consign inventory for dispatch, utilizing various modes of transport (road, air etc.).
  • Prepare documentation for the dispatch of outbound consignments, including those sent via Air Mobility Command (AMC) flights.
  • Perform inventory-related transactions in the system of record (SAP).
  • Report observed discrepancies in stock levels, transactions, and serial numbers.
  • Conduct reporting and control of excess and/or unserviceable goods.
  • Assist in programs of stock analysis and inventory review as required, including the determination of reorder levels.
  • Correctly handle and store hazardous materials. Provide timely notification of any observed incidents relating to hazardous materials.
  • Provide professional and timely assistance at the customer supply counter by promptly responding to inquiries and fulfilling requests.
  • Perform physical warehouse inventory stock takes, documenting and certifying results, and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required.


Skills and Certifications:

Minimum Essential
  • Heavy combination truck license / Class A CDL with a minimum of 2 years' proven experience.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software and applications
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a dedicated team
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound administrative and record-keeping skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in operational tasks
  • Australian or US citizen


Desirable
  • Proven experience in logistics, warehousing, or a related field
  • Vocational training or qualifications in logistics or supply chain management
  • Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) or equivalent tools
  • Forklift License and materials handling experience
  • First Aid and CPR certifications
  • White Card certification (construction site safety)
  • Inventory analysis experience, including demand planning and stock level reviews


Experience: Minimum Essential
  • Minimum of 6 months' experience in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain industry or relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience operating vehicles in the HC license / Class A CDL license

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to independently lift and handle items weighing up to 25 kilograms as part of regular duties.
  • Physical stamina and endurance to perform tasks that involve prolonged standing, walking, bending, or repetitive motions.
  • Capability to operate material handling equipment and safely maneuver heavy loads as needed.
  • Tolerance to work in outdoor and remote environments under varying weather conditions.


SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT

It is a condition of employment that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will be required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TSPV) Department of Defence (Australian) or TS/SSCI (U.S) clearance.

STATEMENT OF WORK REQUIREMENTS

All personnel assigned must be
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Able to fluently read, write and speak English
  • Australian or US citizen


EHS REQUIREMENT

All Amentum personnel are responsible for understanding and complying with all site environmental, health and safety requirements. While Amentum is responsible for providing a safe workplace and is responsible for ensuring compliance with requirements of the Handbook, each person is responsible for:
  • Completing work tasks in a safe manner
  • Reporting any unsafe acts or conditions to their supervisor and/or PMO/EHS Manager
  • Continuous adherence to the environmental, health and safety procedures outlined in the Handbook during the performance of their work
  • Red-Carding a Job - Employee right and responsibility to "STOP WORK" if a job is unsafe or possess a danger to the environment
