The National Intelligence Division is seeking a highly motivated Intelligence Research Analyst to support a variety of intelligence analysis, research, and strategic assessment activities. This position is ideal for a current undergraduate or graduate student, recent graduate, or early-career professional interested in national security, intelligence, emerging technologies, public policy, international affairs, or related disciplines.
The successful candidate will support senior MITRE staff conducting research, analysis, and mission-focused studies for ODNI sponsors and Intelligence Community stakeholders. This role provides exposure to real-world national security challenges while developing foundational skills in intelligence analysis, strategic thinking, and professional research.
This is a short term assignment with opportunities to contribute across multiple projects and mission areas.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Intelligence Research Analyst will support a variety of research, analysis, and mission-focused activities across the National Intelligence Division's portfolio supporting the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI). Working alongside experienced MITRE staff, the individual will contribute to studies involving national security, emerging technologies, strategic competition, intelligence modernization, and future-focused mission challenges. This role is intended to provide meaningful hands-on experience while supporting real-world sponsor priorities and developing foundational skills in intelligence analysis, strategic research, and executive-level communications.

- Conduct open-source and classified research in support of sponsor initiatives and MITRE studies.
- Analyze information from multiple sources and identify relevant trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Support development of briefing materials, white papers, reports, and executive presentations.
- Assist with research related to emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, national security, economic security, and strategic competition.
- Perform literature reviews, environmental scans, and market research activities.
- Support strategic foresight and future-oriented analysis efforts.
- Assist project teams with data collection, organization, and synthesis of findings.
- Participate in sponsor meetings, internal discussions, and collaborative analytic activities.
- Contribute to the development of recommendations and decision-support products for Intelligence Community stakeholders.
- Perform other research and analytical tasks as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in:
- International Relations
- Political Science
- National Security Studies
- Intelligence Studies
- Public Policy
- Economics
- Computer Science
- Data Science
- Engineering
- Emerging Technology Studies
- Or a related field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to conduct independent research and synthesize findings into clear, concise products.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Demonstrated curiosity about national security, intelligence, technology, and global affairs.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance with poly.
- U.S. Citizenship required
- This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.
