Job Description

Duties

  • You will review management reports and listings as they apply to ordnance inventory accuracy to ensure performance goals are met and identify problems areas and trends.
  • You will initiate quality control checks to identify problems in various areas such as receiving, requisition processing, exception processing, causative research, etc.
  • You will pay attention to the accuracy of ordnance data and transaction documentation, compliance of procedures affecting inventory records with regulations and directives, and the validity and property of inventory accounting documents.
  • You will review and approved adjustment and their reversals, when appropriate, in accordance with the thresholds established in NAVSUP P-724.
  • You will coordinate with appropriate internal and external sources to identify process/systemic problems and develop and implement corrective actions for identified problems.
  • You will participate in projects and evaluations that impact inventory accuracy records including major re-warehousing efforts, revisions to receiving/receipt control procedures, etc.
  • You will review inventory adjustments to determine the accuracy and adequacy of inventory, reconciliation and research procedures.
  • You will recommend and initiate appropriate corrective actions to eliminate systemic deficiencies.
  • You will compose correspondence explaining system requirements and action taken to resolve problems.
  • You will brief managers and officials concerning issues, problems, proposed solutions and program accomplishments.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

Incumbent must possess the knowledge skills and abilities in order to:
  • Properly account for ordnance transfers and identify inaccuracies
  • Successfully identify trends of inaccuracies and provide a course of action to correct
  • Be familiar with the procedural compliance aspect of ordnance inventory
  • Possess a working knowledge of NAVSUP P-724
  • Review and analyze sampling and wall-to-wall inventory results in order to identify and discern trends

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
Possession of a LL.M., if related to this position being filled

Additional information

Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, you may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions.
