Job Description

We are seeking a Systems Engineering & Verification (SE&V) Project Engineer to support the development of Next Generation Missile Defense (NGMD) capabilities. This role focuses on the early phases of the Systems Engineering lifecycle, including concept development, requirements analysis, architecture definition, interface development, and model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
The ideal candidate is a systems engineer with experience translating mission needs and stakeholder requirements into system concepts, architectures, and technical solutions. This individual will work closely with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) customers, software and hardware engineering teams, and program leadership to ensure system requirements are clearly defined, traceable, and verifiable throughout development.

Must have an active and transferable DoD Secret security clearance.
Required Education and Skills:
• Active and transferable DoD Secret clearance (or higher) with current investigation.
• Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of systems engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3+ years with an advanced degree.
• Experience performing requirements development, decomposition, allocation, and verification.
• Experience developing engineering artifacts including use cases, sequence diagrams, activity diagrams, and system architecture documentation.
• Experience supporting technical reviews and customer-facing engineering activities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams within a fast-paced development environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs or Missile Defense System (MDS) elements.
• Background in Systems Engineering, Systems Architecture, Verification & Validation, or Test Engineering.
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies, including Cameo Systems Modeler.
• Experience developing and managing ICDs, IDDs, and complex system interfaces.
• Knowledge of Command and Control (C2), distributed systems, networking, or mission-critical defense systems.
• Experience supporting Space Domain Awareness (SDA), Space Defense, or other space-related missions.
• Experience interacting directly with government customers to capture and refine requirements.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and iterative system development.
• Ability to support dynamic priorities and rapidly respond to emerging technical challenges.
Job Duties:
• Lead systems engineering activities supporting concept development, requirements analysis, and system design.
• Translate stakeholder needs and operational objectives into technical requirements and engineering solutions.
• Perform requirements elicitation, decomposition, allocation, and traceability using systems engineering best practices.
• Develop and maintain behavioral models, use cases, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, and other systems engineering artifacts.
• Create and maintain logical and physical system architectures utilizing MBSE methodologies and tools such as Cameo.
• Develop and refine system interfaces, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and Interface Design Descriptions (IDDs).
• Support Agile development activities including sprint planning, technical status reporting, and backlog refinement.
• Prepare, review, and assess system requirements, architecture documentation, verification plans, engineering estimates, and interface documentation.
• Support formal design reviews, technical interchange meetings, and customer briefings.
• Coordinate directly with Missile Defense Agency stakeholders, program leadership, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and ensure program execution.
• Track project schedules, technical milestones, risks, and engineering deliverables.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative systems engineer who excels at defining complex systems before they are built. They possess strong analytical and communication skills, enjoy working directly with customers and stakeholders, and have experience translating mission objectives into actionable engineering requirements, architectures, and verification strategies. Experience within missile defense, command and control, space systems, or other complex defense environments is highly desirable.
