Compensation: 155K – 170K commiserates with education and years of experience
Job Description
The Release Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the successful deployment of software releases, patches, and hotfixes for the DoD contract’s Regional Apps Software Team. This position supports a large, globally deployed software system used by the Department of Defense, with different COCOMs deploying different versions of the software baseline. The Release Manager will be responsible for coordinating with developers, product owners, and engineering managers to ensure that all software releases are properly planned, executed, and documented. Key Responsibilities: Ensure that all software releases, patches, and hotfixes are properly planned, executed, and documented, with accurate tracking of changes and updates to the various software branches.
Must have an active and transferable DoD Secret security clearance.
Required Education and Skills:
• Master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• At least 12 years of experience in software development, with 5+ years focused on release management / configuration management.
• Experience with large, complex software systems, including those used by the Department of Defense.
• Deep knowledge in software deployment processes and procedures.
• Certification in Agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum Master, Agile Certified Practitioner).
• Experience with data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
• Experience with metrics development and reporting, with ability to analyze and present complex data.
• Existing 8140 Certification preferred. Ability to acquire 8140 Certification is required,
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, including planning, development, testing, and deployment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Job Duties:
• Coordinate with developers, product owners, and engineering managers to ensure that all software releases meet completion and artifact recording timelines.
• Manage multiple processes and documents, serving as the primary point of contact between the Regional Apps Agile Release Train (ART) and other ARTs on the program regarding current / future releases of Regional Apps software.
• Collaborate with key program stakeholders, including Configuration Management (CM), Release Management, and Quality Assurance, to ensure successful release of software artifacts and creation of deployment media.
• Develop, maintain, and present key performance indicators (KPIs) and other metrics related to the Regional Apps Enterprise.
• Prioritize and manage emergency changes to the software, ensuring timely resolution of operational deficiencies or anomalies that impact customer satisfaction.
• Support Regional Apps PI Planning, ensuring the work needed for future Releases is planned by the development teams.
• Coordinate with other program points of contact to ensure timeliness and completeness of Releases.
