IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK/INFOSEC)

Duties

• Leads the development of an enterprise Information Security and IT modernization plan.
• Monitors and tracks compliance requirements with Army, Navy, Air Force, DHA, and DoD Information Assurance (IA) security reporting requirements.
• Analyzes the implications and trends, then applies conclusions in devising solutions to complex problems.
• Assists in resolving security issues by coordinating between military medical services and other affected parties and then, evaluates and reports threats to the military medical services.
• Serves as a Network Operations and Security Engineer for the Network Security Operations Center.
• Develops plans for IT protocol standardization, determines the adequacy of standardization requirements, and participates in systems test, analysis, and evaluation for the purpose of quality control.
• Identifies and assesses network performance for hardware/software utilization.
• Maintains inventory of Hardware and Software to ensure that licenses are current and legal.
• Oversees the work of contractors in managing the security of the enterprise and projects in development, deployment, and/or sustainment of network security measures.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• One year trial/probationary period may be required.
• This position requires access to classified information. Incumbent of the position will be required to complete a Standard Form (SF) 312, Classified Information Nondisclosures Agreement (NDA), as a condition of employment.
• The position requires compliance with DoW Directive 8140, which mandates that individuals in cybersecurity roles obtain and maintain required certifications to meet Cyber Workforce Qualification Standards.
• These certifications validate the skills necessary to protect DoW systems and data.
• Alternate work schedule is not authorized. Overtime and shift work may be required on short notice to include nights, holidays, and weekends in support of related mission requirements, as a condition of employment.
• Call back and emergency duty are regular requirements of this position.
• May be required to carry a Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) cellular device and maintain a personal working cell/home telephone at all times.

Basic Requirements for the IT SPECIALIST (NETWORK/INFOSEC), GS-2210-12:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes monitoring cyber security policies and procedures, performing network configuration activities, and assisting with the development of software and/or hardware changes . This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
