Lead Web Platform Engineer

Blu Omega is seeking a Lead Web Platform Engineer to support enterprise web platform and Drupal application delivery within a mission-driven federal contracting environment. This role operates in a remote setting and is responsible for technical leadership across web platform engineering, platform operations, and Drupal administration.

Key Details
Location: Remote (Washington, D.C. area work site)
Clearance: Public Trust to be obtained after candidate selection.
Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of Git-based source control repositories and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Partner with development teams to enhance continuous integration and continuous delivery capabilities.
  • Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks across multiple environments and operating systems.
  • Establish and promote coding standards, release management processes, and platform best practices.
  • Integrate security controls into development and deployment workflows through DevSecOps practices.
  • Administer enterprise web platforms, including user access management, development environments, and platform security coordination.
  • Coordinate backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes to meet operational requirements.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex application, infrastructure, network, and storage issues.
  • Support highly available, secure web and middleware environments while balancing performance, scalability, and cost considerations.
  • Manage platform tools including GitLab, Ansible, Kiteworks, ServiceNow, and related technologies.
  • Lead Drupal site development and administration using Composer, Drush, GitLab, and configuration management best practices.
  • Design and implement content types, site architecture, workflows, layouts, and reusable platform components.
  • Build and maintain functionality utilizing Drupal core, contributed modules, and custom solutions as needed.
  • Oversee information architecture, taxonomy, and content governance strategies.
  • Lead accessibility testing and compliance efforts aligned with Section 508 and WCAG standards.
  • Conduct usability, browser compatibility, and device compatibility testing.
  • Serve as the primary technical lead for Drupal and web platform initiatives, providing guidance and mentorship to development teams and stakeholders.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release coordination activities.
  • Support audits, compliance reviews, and operational assessments through documentation and subject matter expertise.
  • Deliver technical documentation, training, and ongoing support to content managers, administrators, and business stakeholders.

Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in web platform engineering, Drupal development/administration, DevOps, infrastructure operations, or related disciplines.
  • 3+ years of experience serving in a technical lead, senior engineer, or platform ownership capacity.
  • Experience administering enterprise websites, web applications, or digital platforms.
  • Strong experience with Git-based source control and CI/CD pipeline development.
  • Hands-on experience implementing DevSecOps practices.
  • Experience with Drupal site building, administration, and maintenance within version-controlled environments.
  • Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex application, infrastructure, and integration issues.
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting secure environments with disciplined operational processes, access controls, and recovery procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Drupal development experience, including: custom module development, Drupal APIs, Twig theming, performance optimization, caching strategies, and secure coding practices.
  • Modern platform engineering experience, including knowledge of containerization technologies and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and observability/monitoring solutions.
  • Familiarity with modern deployment and automation frameworks.
  • Accessibility and UX experience, including deep understanding of WCAG and Section 508 compliance requirements, and experience with accessibility testing.
  • Familiarity with wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, and collaboration tools such as Figma.

Compensation

Salary Range: $100,000.00 - $145,000.00
Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance.
