Description
The Defense Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO) / Communications Security (COMSEC) Manager to support classified operations in Bridgewater, Virginia.
This position supports critical national security missions by administering Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security programs and COMSEC operations in accordance with Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DoD), National Security Agency (NSA), and customer-specific requirements.
The selected candidate will serve as a key security professional responsible for SCI administration, COMSEC accountability, SCIF compliance, personnel security, physical security, and classified material control. This role requires close coordination with government customers, program leadership, security personnel, and cleared program staff to ensure compliance with all applicable security directives and operational requirements.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Manage and administer SCI and COMSEC programs in compliance with applicable IC, DoD, NSA, and customer security directives and regulations.
• Maintain accountability, control, distribution, transmission, safeguarding, and destruction of SCI material, Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI), classified media, and cryptographic keying material.
• Perform COMSEC account management functions including ordering, receiving, loading, inventorying, distributing, and destroying cryptographic material using systems such as DIAS, KMI, SKL, and TACLANE solutions.
• Support SCI personnel security activities including indoctrinations, debriefings, visitor access requests, nomination processing, polygraph coordination, and security education/training programs.
• Maintain SCIF/TSCIF compliance and accreditation documentation in accordance with ICD 705 requirements and support inspections, self-assessments, audits, and security reviews.
• Develop, maintain, and implement security policies, SOPs, procedures, and governance documentation supporting SCI and COMSEC operations.
• Maintain access control systems, support classified meetings, coordinate with collateral security personnel, and investigate/report security incidents or infractions as required.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Current TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph eligibility or active Polygraph.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting SCI security programs across personnel, physical, information, or COMSEC security disciplines.
• Completion of an agency-level COMSEC training course within the last 7 years.
• Completion of a SCIF physical security course within the last five (5) years.
• Working knowledge of ICD 704, ICD 705, DoDM 5105.21 Volumes 1–3, and other applicable IC, DoD, DIA, and Army security regulations.
• Experience administering SCI and COMSEC programs, interpreting security policies, assessing risk, and implementing compliant security procedures in operational environments.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and customer service skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Completion of formal SSO/CSSO certification training within the last five (5) years.
• Completion of Key Management Infrastructure Training Course.
• Experience supporting COMSEC management activities under Army and Air Force contracts.
• Experience operating, configuring, and managing End Cryptographic Units and fill devices.
• Security+ certification.
• Experience with Army Centralized Contracts and Security Portal processes.
• Experience supporting classified programs within the Intelligence Community or Department of Defense environments.
