A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the13 grade level in the Federal service:
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Requirements for the 2210 series as listed below: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

As a SUPERVISORY IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) at the GS-2210-14 some of your typical work assignments may include:
- Security Program Management & Oversight
- Oversee a team of Cyber Security and Classified Lab security professionals to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data.
- Establish and publish agency-wide policy to manage and lead the implementation of security programs designed to anticipate, assess, and minimize system vulnerabilities.
- Oversee the implementation of the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) and other mandated security infrastructures (e.g., ACAS scanners).
- Manage and maintain the Information Assurance (IA) Awareness Program, including computer-based training.
- Ensure each agency system undergoes Certification and Accreditation (C&A) using prescribed DoD methodologies.

You may qualify at the GS-14, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the13 grade level in the Federal service:
- Mastery of IT Security: Demonstrating mastery of IT systems security principles, concepts, and methods. This includes comprehensive knowledge across the 10 security domains (e.g., access control, cryptography, security architecture, business continuity) and a deep understanding of the total infrastructure protection environment and federal security protocols.
- Certification and Accreditation (C&A): Possessing mastery of technical and non-technical C&A requirements, processes, and assessments. This includes skill in applying policies and regulations according to DoD, NSA, DISA, NIST, DIACAP, and FISMA standards (including NIST 800-53) to certify and accredit systems and networks.
- Policy and Planning: Proven ability to develop, implement, and disseminate IT security tools, procedures, and practices. This includes creating long-range plans and specifications to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and anticipate future IT security challenges.
- Technical Security Knowledge: A comprehensive understanding of a wide range of IT infrastructure, including data centers, networks (LAN/WAN), servers (Windows/Unix), and endpoints. This knowledge is sufficient to identify vulnerabilities and recommend technology-specific solutions.
- Leadership and Communication: Effective written and oral communication skills to advise senior leadership, customers, and project managers. This includes expertise in technical writing to draft specifications, briefings, and reports for various audiences and the ability to work independently to ensure security controls are implemented and tested.
