Overview
Akumen is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support development and sustainment of modern data platforms for a federal program. This role is responsible for building and maintaining data pipelines, integration processes, and cloud-based data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and mission operations. The position supports enterprise data movement, transformation, and curation activities across multiple environments.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and integration.
Support development of ETL/ELT workflows for data warehouses, data lakes, and analytics platforms.
Monitor and improve data quality, reliability, and performance across the data ecosystem.
Support cloud-based deployment, automation, and sustainment of production data systems.
Collaborate with architects, analysts, and developers to deliver data solutions aligned with mission needs.
Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in data engineering or data integration.
Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, SQL, or Scala.
Experience with cloud-based data platforms and big data environments.
Demonstrated experience with data ingestion, transformation, curation, and pipeline troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in a related field.
Experience with Databricks, Apache Spark, and AWS data services.
Experience supporting analytics, reporting, or machine learning data environments.
Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and metadata management practices.
Relevant cloud or data engineering certifications.
Clearance Requirement
Must possess an active Secret security clearance or higher, or have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance or higher in accordance with contract requirements.
