Duties
- Performs work direction responsibilities. Supervises inspection, troubleshooting, installation, modification, repair, and overhaul duties on fixed industrial equipment installed within the air freight terminal and the inbound and outbound baggage handling conveyor systems
- Performs administration responsibilities. Participates with employees in the development of performance plans and recommends them to supervisors.
- Performs work planning responsibilities. Plans use of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a daily orby project basis.

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5800 Transportaion/Mobile Equipment Maintenance Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of an ELECTROMOTIVE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC SUPERVISOR without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:Knowledge of a wide range of principles, processes, and techniques of trade(s) and/or craft(s) supervised and personnel management policies, practices, and procedures, including sexual harassment and Equal Employment Opportunity/Equal Employment Treatment. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of the use and maintenance of hand and power tools, equipment and precision measuring and/or test equipment common to trades supervised. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and technical specifications. Ability to plan and organize work assignments to include determining resources required to accomplish mission. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

- Requires good working knowledge of overall air freight cargo processing functions as well as operation of various types of fixed industrial equipment installed or maintained.
- Coordinates closely with the safety technician and assures continuing compliance with all prescribed safety requirements by subordinate maintenance personnel.
- Subject to call back after normal duty hours, requires thorough knowledge of applicable regulations, trade manuals, and accepted work policies.
- Works inside and outside, subject to prevailing weather conditions and close proximity to mobile equipment and moving machinery when inspecting and reviewing maintenance work operations and color and depth perception.
- Subject to possible electrical shock, falls, cuts, bruises, strains, and exposure to cleaning solvents grease, oils, and hydraulic fluid spills on person and clothing.
- The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An Appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position.
